James Gunn offers cautious updates on Batman and the Flash
James Gunn has addressed several fan questions about the developing DC Universe, including the future of Batman, Wally West and the boundaries of the new continuity.

Batman’s DCU suit has not been designed
When a fan asked whether Batman’s eventual costume would share the same texture as Superman’s suit, Gunn revealed that the design does not exist yet. That suggests the character’s full DCU arrival remains some distance away.
Bruce Wayne could theoretically appear without a completed suit in Man of Tomorrow, the planned follow-up to 2025’s Superman, but the available information gives no indication that this is likely. More substantial details may not emerge until The Brave and the Bold moves further through development.
Wally West’s status remains unknown
Gunn was equally noncommittal when asked whether Wally West, the character better known as the Flash, is already active in the new universe. His response was simply, “Who knows?”
There is currently no confirmed Flash project in development. Even so, the character’s popularity makes a future appearance plausible, although Gunn’s answer deliberately provides no clear timeline or status.
Blue Beetle’s return does not make his film canon
Man of Tomorrow is expected to bring back several familiar characters. Xolo Maridueña will reprise his role as Jaime Reyes, also known as Blue Beetle, from the 2023 film.
That casting decision might suggest that the earlier movie belongs to the new DCU. Gunn has clarified that this is not the case: Blue Beetle can return without the 2023 film becoming canon. He also confirmed that 2022’s Black Adam is not part of the new continuity.
Gunn rules out directing a live-action Teen Titans film
Gunn currently has no announced project to direct after Man of Tomorrow, which has encouraged speculation about his next DC film. He has, however, ruled out directing the planned live-action Teen Titans movie after a fan asked about it.
That still leaves numerous confirmed DC projects that Gunn could potentially join in another capacity. For readers planning a superhero-themed home setup, RETROCADE’s arcade machines and arcade light guns offer ways to bring comic-book-style action into a games room.
