GTA 6 preview reveals a random event Rockstar had never seen

Grand Theft Auto 6 is being built around an unusually detailed world, with complex non-playable characters, reactive environments and a huge range of possible encounters. A recent two-hour preview suggested that even the developers can still be surprised by what emerges during play.

Italian influencer MikeShowSha later published a 26-minute video summarising the preview and its new details. The presentation reportedly included marked stolen banknotes that need to be laundered, fully dynamic car crashes and highly aggressive police behaviour when escaping a six-star Wanted level.

The most unexpected moment involved a random event encountered during free roaming. Two women wearing ski masks were attempting a jewellery-store robbery, but the heist had stalled because they could not open the safe. The alarm was sounding and the pair were panicking.

Players could reportedly choose how to respond: help the robbers, complete the theft and take the money, or ignore the situation and continue on their way. MikeShowSha said the team told him they had never encountered that particular event during months of testing.

A detailed world that can surprise its creators

The preview adds weight to earlier claims about the scale of the game’s dialogue and NPC systems. One alleged audio employee previously said that lines were recorded several times to suit different circumstances and emotional states. The reported aim was to let players spend at least 20 minutes in one location without hearing repeated dialogue or seeing the same event recur.

That level of variation would be a significant technical achievement, even for a production with a reported billion-dollar budget. It also helps explain why modern open-world games increasingly resemble enormous interactive systems rather than simple collections of missions.

The preview reportedly showed Rockstar continuing to refine small details. In one example, an NPC delivered a car before leaving on an electric scooter. A Rockstar representative noticed that Jason had not thanked the delivery driver and instructed the team to correct the interaction.

MikeShowSha also said he encountered no bugs during the session, although the developers continued adjusting details as the preview progressed. That should not be read as a guarantee of a flawless launch, but it does indicate that the game was still receiving close attention late in development.

Why the scale matters

The preview helps put the expected length of GTA 6 into perspective. A Rockstar developer reportedly needed 80 hours to complete the main story while doing little optional content. The map is said to be several times larger than the one in Red Dead Redemption 2, while individual NPCs have extensive dialogue, possible events and animations.

Rockstar has also built a dedicated team focused on more realistic characters, with reports pointing to hundreds of thousands of animations. For players, the practical result could be a city that feels less predictable each time they explore it.
