FPS Games Show brings 16 shooters together in September

A new pre-recorded showcase dedicated entirely to first-person shooters will stream on Thursday, 3 September at 2pm EDT. The event will be available exclusively on Twitch.

Presented by Bulkhead, the studio developing the upcoming Steam Early Access title Wardogs, the FPS Games Show is promising game news, gameplay footage, updates and reveals.

Sixteen FPS games announced

All participating games are appearing voluntarily. Organisers say there are no paid placements and that studios do not need to spend on marketing to be included.

  • Ready or Not
  • Stalzone
  • SCUM
  • Gray Zone Warfare
  • Wardogs
  • Hell Let Loose: Vietnam

Why create a dedicated shooter showcase?

Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer says first-person shooters have been a major part of the games industry for more than 30 years and have built one of its largest, most committed communities. He argues that FPS players still lack a dedicated venue for updates, news and new announcements.

“The FPS Games Show aims to change that by bringing studios together to showcase their work, support one another and celebrate our collective love of the genre,” Brammer said.

Bulkhead UI/UX director Howard Philpott offered more context in a separate video. He said conventional gaming showcases may include only one or two titles of interest to shooter fans. Brammer and Philpott also claim that placing a 60-second trailer in one of those events can cost $300,000, helping prompt the decision to produce a dedicated show.

Steam event will add demos and discounts

Steam is supporting the showcase with a dedicated third-party platform event for selected titles. The Steam event is set to include discounts, free demos and free weekends.
