Crimson Desert DLC is targeted for 2026
Crimson Desert has become one of 2026’s biggest games despite receiving a mixed response at launch. Developer and publisher Pearl Abyss confirmed in June that downloadable content was in development, and its latest financial update has now narrowed the expected release window.
In its second-quarter 2026 earnings letter, Pearl Abyss said it is targeting the first DLC for release before the end of this year. With the second half of 2026 already underway, the expansion could arrive within the next few months.
The company has not yet announced the DLC’s content, launch date or price. More information is expected during the third quarter. Pearl Abyss also says future expansions will depend on how the first DLC performs.

What is planned for Crimson Desert?
Pearl Abyss is also preparing a version of Crimson Desert for Nintendo Switch 2. The game has reached a playable baseline on Nintendo’s newer console, while technical reviews continue as the developer works to balance performance and visual quality.
The Switch 2 edition is currently targeted for release in the first half of 2027. That is a window rather than a confirmed launch date, and Pearl Abyss has not provided further platform details.

No mobile version planned
Pearl Abyss has ruled out a mobile release because it believes a port to those devices would not preserve the game’s graphical quality. The earnings letter also discusses possible multiplayer features, following apparent fan demand.
Adding co-operative or multiplayer play would be highly complex, so the company is conducting extensive research before committing to the idea. It is not clear whether multiplayer would become a Crimson Desert expansion or form part of a separate game.

Pearl Abyss views Crimson Desert as the starting point for a franchise, suggesting that further announcements may eventually cover the game’s expansions, multiplayer direction and future projects.
