Raw Thrills and Play Mechanix have released version 1.29 for Angry Birds Boom!, their ticket-dispensing arcade game based on the popular Angry Birds licence. The update follows an unfinished version shown at IAAPA in 2025.
What is Angry Birds Boom!?
First released in the autumn of 2024, Angry Birds Boom! has appeared at family entertainment centres. Rather than directly reproducing the mobile game, it reworks the licence as a 3D light-gun experience, following a similar approach to Raw Thrills’ earlier Nerf Arcade.
Players use the cabinet’s mounted guns to launch a continuous stream of birds at structures, bringing down the green pigs and earning tickets. The game joins a broader range of arcade machines designed for high-traffic entertainment venues.
What’s new in version 1.29?
Raw Thrills says the latest changes have contributed to stronger earnings. The main additions and improvements include:
- A jackpot bonus score: beating the displayed target awards the posted jackpot bonus.
- A high-score leaderboard, which is particularly useful when the game is operated without ticket play.
- Mid-game joining, allowing a new player to enter without waiting for the next round.
- User-interface changes intended to encourage players to keep playing.
Arcade Mode and online scores
An Arcade Mode was also added in a separate update released in November. The mode appears on Raw Thrills’ high-score website, where many of the company’s games display leading scores submitted when players scan the QR code shown after a game.
