Battlefield 3 introduced Platoons as clan-style groups that helped players build larger communities beyond their regular squad. EA later confirmed the social feature for Battlefield 6, but it has now been pushed out of 2026.

The planned system was designed to let players create or join Platoons with as many as 100 members. Players would be able to group up more easily, display a shared Platoon tag and choose different settings for joining. Leadership controls were also planned to help manage membership, while playing with fellow members would provide XP bonuses.

Platoons will not launch in Season 5

Platoons had been scheduled for early December, alongside a server browser and new map updates. EA was still listing the feature for Season 5 in its October 21 update, but the developer has since confirmed that it will not arrive before the end of the year.

The latest status message said Platoons and the B-81 Cavalry are not ready for release because they have not met the team’s internal quality standards. A revised roadmap covering 2027 is expected to be shared after the holiday period, leaving the eventual launch timing unclear.

Players question the delay

The change has prompted frustration from parts of the Battlefield 6 community. Some players have argued that Platoon-style social tools are basic features that appeared in earlier entries, while others questioned why the delay came so soon after the new season began.

Fans have also pointed to the feature’s prominent place in the Season 5 artwork as evidence that its arrival appeared to be close. The reaction highlights the expectations surrounding long-requested community tools in a multiplayer series built around persistent groups and teamwork.
