8 TV shows to stream this weekend: October 23–25

This weekend’s television schedule is relatively quiet after recent releases including Carrie, Crystal Lake and VisionQuest. The next few months should be busier, with the final season of Yellowjackets and season three of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power among the returning series ahead.

For now, there is still plenty to explore across Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Peacock, AMC+ and HBO Max. The selection ranges from anime and crime drama to sitcoms, romance, science fiction and action. If you are settling in after browsing RETROCADE’s arcade news and gaming coverage, these eight shows offer a varied weekend watchlist.

1. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

Cyberpunk Edgerunners season 2
  • Available on: Netflix
  • Genre: Anime
  • Episodes: 10
  • Cast: Kentaro Tone, Koki Uchiyama, Momoka Terasawa

The second season returns to the world established by Cyberpunk 2077, but follows a new group of characters whose lives collide in Night City. Its stories include an ageing edgerunner seeking redemption, a teenager rebelling against her corporate family and a film enthusiast trying to protect traditional movie-making as the art form disappears.

Across 10 episodes, director Kai Ikarashi, CD Projekt Red and Studio Trigger combine corporate cruelty, perilous technology and characters pushed beyond their limits. Familiar ideas remain, but a strong ensemble and its evolving relationships make this return to Night City richer and more rewarding.

2. Nobody Wants This

Kristen Bell and Adam Brody lead this romantic comedy as Joanne, a sex podcaster, and Noah, a rabbi. Their relationship continues despite different backgrounds and interests. 3. Yaga

Hudson Williams in Yaga
  • Available on: AMC+
  • Genre: Thriller
  • Episodes: 8
  • Cast: Hudson Williams, Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid

Inspired by a stage play and the Slavic legend of Baba Yaga, this Canadian thriller is not connected to John Wick. Detective Noah Reid investigates the disappearance of Henry Park, played by Hudson Williams, the heir to a powerful fishery. The case brings him into contact with a university professor, portrayed by Carrie-Anne Moss, whose interest in younger men complicates the investigation.

4. Lupin

5. The Terminal List

6. Phony

  • Episodes: 8
  • Cast: Sam Nivola, Connie Britton, Mahaela Park

High school student Sonny has an unusually close relationship with his mother, Ellen. After a car crash leaves him in a coma, Sonny wakes convinced that Ellen has been replaced by an identical impostor. Nobody around him believes the claim, creating the central mystery of this comedy-drama.

7. Newlyweds

Sarah and Helena played by Tatiana Maslany on Orphan Black
  • Available on: Peacock
  • Genre: Comedy
  • Episodes: 13
  • Cast: Tea Leoni, Tim Daly, Jamie Lee Curtis

This sitcom follows a newly married couple whose personalities sit at opposite ends of the spectrum: she is free-spirited, while he is more buttoned-up. Their contrasting approaches to married life drive the comedy, with every episode recorded before a live audience.

8. Orphan Black

Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) looks over a railing while her guards and council stand behind her in House of the Dragon
  • Available on: HBO Max
  • Genre: Science fiction
  • Episodes: 50 total
  • Cast: Tatiana Maslany, Jordan Gavaris, Evelyne Brochu

All 50 episodes of Orphan Black are now streaming on HBO Max, giving the science-fiction series an opportunity to find a wider audience. Tatiana Maslany plays Sarah Manning, an ex-con returning home to her daughter, adoptive brother and adoptive mother. Her plans change when she sees a woman jump onto train tracks and realises the woman looks exactly like her.

The conspiracy involves corporations, scientists, human experimentation and numerous clones, but the series is anchored by Tatiana Maslany’s performance. Across five seasons she plays 17 distinct clones, whose conversations, arguments, embraces and dances remain among the show’s most distinctive achievements.

After the final episode, you can keep the screen running with RETROCADE’s arcade videos, or plan a dedicated home setup using the arcade machine buying guide.
