Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle 2 may have an unconfirmed 2027 release date, after fans noticed an unnamed Sony and Crunchyroll film listed for September.

The next chapter is among the most anticipated anime films expected after 2026. The first Infinity Castle movie became the highest-grossing anime film ever, finishing its theatrical run with approximately $793 million worldwide.

Could the listing be Infinity Castle 2?
Movie database listings include an untitled Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures production scheduled for September 15, 2027. That has prompted speculation that the project could be Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle 2.
The theory has some foundation. Sony and Crunchyroll hold global distribution and streaming rights for the Demon Slayer franchise, while Sony is also represented on the production committee through Aniplex. The date appears in a listing from The Numbers, although the film itself is not named.

There are reasons to remain cautious. The listing identifies Sony Pictures but does not mention Aniplex, which could indicate that the film is something else. However, Aniplex is wholly owned by Sony, so the omission may simply reflect how the entry has been recorded.
One Piece is another possible candidate
A second possibility is One Piece Film: God Valley, which has already been announced for summer 2027. It is expected to be the first One Piece film to directly connect with the manga and anime’s official story.
That explanation also has complications. One Piece films are produced by Toei Animation, yet Toei is not named in the listing. Sony and Crunchyroll distribute the films in North America, but their distribution arrangement does not cover France, the country identified in the listing.

What fans should take from the rumour
At present, the unnamed Sony and Crunchyroll project cannot be confidently identified. The September date is best treated as a hint rather than a confirmed release announcement, and there is no official information telling Australian fans to mark the day in their calendars.
The first film, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle, has arrived on Hulu and Netflix, giving viewers a chance to revisit the opening instalment while waiting for news about the sequel. Australian streaming availability may differ.
