Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 arrived on Netflix on October 20, and CD Projekt Red is preparing a companion update for Cyberpunk 2077. The update is expected to follow on October 22 for PC and consoles, although its contents appeared online before the planned reveal.
The timing continues CD Projekt Red’s long-term support for its games. The Witcher 3, despite launching more than a decade ago, has received patches, a remastered update and additional downloadable content. Cyberpunk 2077 also received substantial post-launch support after its troubled late-2020 release, helping improve the game and expand its audience.
The first season of Edgerunners centred on David Martinez. Season 2 moves to a different cast and story, with all 10 episodes available to binge after its October 20 premiere. The follow-up game update, referred to as Cyberpunk 2077 version 2.5 or the Edgerunners 2 update, is designed to give players another reason to return to Night City.
What the Cyberpunk 2077 2.5 leak reveals
CD Projekt Red was scheduled to share more information during a livestream on October 21 at 11 a.m. ET. Before that presentation, a content creator reportedly uploaded a video outlining the update. The video was later made private, but viewers had already captured and circulated details. Push Square’s report also covers the leaked information.
The reported additions include features for both console and PC players:
- Console mod support: Players will reportedly be able to use mods through mod.io, in a system compared with The Witcher 3 Remastered.
- Dual-wield pistols and revolvers: A new Cool skill-tree perk called “Double Trouble” is said to enable this combat option.
- Edgerunners music: Songs from the anime are expected to appear on a new in-game radio station.
- More customisation: Cyberware will receive additional customisation options, while V will gain new hairstyles and clothing choices.
- Fresh missions: Two side quests are reportedly being added to Night City.
When the update is expected
The reported release date is October 22, arriving two days after the anime’s second season. That schedule gives players time to watch the new season before exploring its related game content, though the final feature list and launch details remain subject to CD Projekt Red’s official announcement.
