Analogue is bringing back its modern alternatives to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Sega Genesis with two upgraded consoles: the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+.

The original Super Nt launched in 2017, followed by the Mega Sg in 2019. Both systems were designed to make playing vintage cartridges easier on modern televisions, and the new versions add several practical updates.
What the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ offer
Like their predecessors, the consoles use FPGA technology to read original cartridges and output 16-bit games in high definition at up to 1080p. The video output is designed for widescreen displays, providing a straightforward way to connect classic systems to newer televisions.
The upgraded hardware adds Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz wireless controller support, USB-C power and the ability to change cartridges without switching the console off. Each unit also includes two cartridge cleaners, with additional cartridge cleaners available from Analogue.

Super Nt+ compatibility
The Super Nt+ supports more than 2,200 SNES and Super Famicom cartridges. It also works with original controllers, allowing existing hardware to remain part of the setup.
Mega Sg+ compatibility
The Mega Sg+ reads more than 2,180 cartridges released for Sega Genesis, Mega Drive, Master System, Game Gear, Mycard Adapter and SG-1000. It supports the relevant wired controllers and is also compatible with Sega CD.

For readers building a dedicated retro setup, these systems offer a different approach from browsing full-size arcade machines or choosing one of RETROCADE’s compact bartop arcades. They are intended for original cartridge collections rather than arcade-style multi-game cabinets.
Price, pre-orders and controllers
The Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ are priced at $219.99 each. Pre-orders open on Monday, October 19 at 11 a.m. ET, with shipping scheduled to begin in December.
Neither console includes a controller. Owners can use original wired controllers, choose compatible wireless models or buy Analogue’s 8BitDo controllers separately for $29.99. Australian buyers should also account for international delivery, local availability and any applicable import costs when assessing the final price.

A modern route for original cartridges
The Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ retain the cartridge-focused design of the earlier systems while adding newer connectivity and power options. For anyone comparing ways to preserve a classic collection, the consoles sit alongside the considerations covered in RETROCADE’s arcade machine buying guide: available space, display hardware, controllers and how the games will actually be played.
Analogue’s updated systems are scheduled to ship from December, giving owners of compatible SNES, Super Famicom, Genesis, Mega Drive and related cartridges another modern hardware option.
