Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave launched in September 2026 to strong commercial and critical reception, combining familiar series features with new ideas. Nintendo and Intelligent Systems have now confirmed an expansion pass containing new weapons, allies, outfits and additional story routes.

The announcement arrived as a surprise release earlier this week. The first content wave is available through the expansion pass on the Nintendo eShop, while later additions are planned across the 2026 holiday season and beyond.
Wave 1 adds four Heroes’ Relics-inspired weapons

The opening wave introduces four weapons labelled as Prototypes in Fortune’s Weave. Each is based on a Heroes’ Relic from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, giving players a direct connection to the earlier game’s most recognisable leaders.
- Sword of the Creator — associated with Byleth and used as a sword
- Areadbhar — associated with Dimitri and used as a lance
- Aymr — associated with Edelgard and used as an axe
- Failnaught — associated with Claude and used as a bow

Wave 2 brings costumes and powerful allies

The second wave is scheduled for the 2026 holiday season. It will give Flame Lords Cai, Dietrich, Theodora and Leda new outfits, with the option to switch back to their original clothing whenever players choose.
The costumes can also be worn by allied characters. That means a complete roster can be styled in the colours of a preferred in-game faction, rather than limiting each outfit to its original owner.
Wave 2 also makes three Dagdan gods playable during Part 3: Aurora, Smyrnos and Jurah. They join the Promised One’s army with formidable gameplay strength. Their power is not unlimited, however, and each can still perish.
Wave 3 restores four additional story routes

The largest announcement is the third wave, which will add four new stories centred on the game’s other rival lords: Anatolia, Talimun, Orchel and Bertrand.
An Intelligent Systems AMA revealed that the game originally featured eight protagonists. The development team decided that scope was too ambitious, reduced the number to four and introduced the avatar character Eshmel to connect the routes.
The planned third wave now brings stories focused on those four removed lords back to the game. Players already face four lengthy routes in the base release, so completing four more could make Fortune’s Weave an especially substantial strategy RPG.
Fans had been asking for the missing routes since the game debuted in September. That response may have helped shape the decision, although the content was likely already in development and required additional time to complete. No precise launch date has been announced for Wave 3 beyond 2027.
A substantial expansion for strategy-RPG fans

With new weapons available now, costumes and playable gods planned for the 2026 holiday season, and four more stories due sometime beyond 2027, the Fortune’s Weave expansion pass significantly broadens the game’s campaign.
