Netflix has not officially announced a fourth season of its live-action One Piece adaptation, but several recent clues point to production moving ahead sooner than many viewers expected.

The latest indication comes from the Writers Guild of America (WGA) website, which now lists season 4 staff alongside a “2027-2028” date. That is not confirmation from Netflix, but it supports the possibility of a release during that period.

Season 4 could follow a December 2026 shoot

The live-action series premiered in 2023 and quickly became one of Netflix’s most-watched shows. Its success helped overcome the long-standing belief that a manga or anime as ambitious as One Piece could not translate effectively to live action.
Season 2 arrived in March 2026, while season 3 is scheduled for 2027. A September 2026 message from the organiser of The One Con in Paris appeared to suggest that the cast would reunite to film another season in December 2026. The convention is scheduled for November 2026, and the message shared by the organiser of The One Con may have revealed the production timing accidentally.
That possibility follows the reported completion of season 3 filming on June 30, 2026. Taken together with the WGA listing, the information suggests that season 4 could arrive between 2027 and 2028, although Netflix has yet to make the schedule official.
The available information is promising, but the season 4 release window should still be treated as unconfirmed until Netflix makes an announcement.
What could happen after Alabasta?
Season 2 took the Straw Hats into the Grand Line, described as the world’s most dangerous sea. During their journey, they encountered new threats and welcomed Tony Tony Chopper, the reindeer doctor played by Mikaela Hoover, into the crew.
The season also followed the crew’s efforts to help Vivi, played by Charithra Chandran. The princess is attempting to save the kingdom of Alabasta from Baroque Works and its leader, Mr Crocodile, played by Joe Manganiello.
Season 3 will centre on Luffy, played by Iñaki Godoy, and the rest of the crew as they go to war to protect Vivi and her kingdom. If that season adapts the complete Alabasta Arc, the next chapter could take the Straw Hats towards Jaya and the extraordinary sky-island adventure that follows.

Why the timing matters
A December 2026 production start would help explain how a fourth season could fit into the 2027-2028 window shown on the WGA page. It would also indicate that Netflix intends to maintain momentum between seasons rather than leave the live-action series on a long hiatus.
