A long-standing F-Zero GX mystery has finally been cracked. Japanese player BTEST4HE has uncovered previously hidden cheat codes in Nintendo’s 2003 GameCube racer, unlocking the event-exclusive parts known among fans as the “Gold Parts”.

The lost Gold Parts of F-Zero GX

The Gold Parts have been one of the game’s most elusive rewards since launch. They were originally tied to limited-time promotional events held in Japan, meaning players who could not attend had no conventional way to obtain them.

A detailed history of the system is available through the CGN archive. Until now, the remaining options were largely limited to homebrew methods or finding hardware connected with those long-finished events.

Eight codes unlock special machine parts

In a post dated October 9, 2026, BTEST4HE shared eight separate commands. Each one unlocks a particular group of parts, which can then be purchased through the in-game shop. The discovery was shared on X.

The commands shown in the image were also confirmed to work with the 1P controller command and Thunder Storm command in Nintendo GameCube Nintendo Classics.

The commands are not restricted by language or platform. They work with both the English and Japanese releases, as well as the original GameCube version, the Wii version and the Nintendo Classics edition available on Nintendo Switch 2.

The tricky four-controller requirement

There is one substantial catch: five of the eight codes, including the commands for the Gold Parts, require four controllers to be operated at the same time. In practical terms, that means gathering three other players—or finding a particularly elaborate way to manage four inputs simultaneously.

For a game this old, discovering functioning commands that remained hidden for 23 years is an extraordinary result. It also gives F-Zero GX fans a new reason to revisit one of Nintendo’s most demanding futuristic racing games.
