Hellraiser: Revival is proving difficult to share on video platforms. The survival-horror game includes graphic violence, gore and sexual content, and a French creator says YouTube removed his channel after he uploaded gameplay containing censored footage.
J0nathan shared the platform’s ban notice on X, along with an image of the notice. YouTube said the channel had violated its sex and nudity rules, which prohibit explicit material intended for sexual gratification. The creator’s channel had approximately 190,000 subscribers and had been built over more than a decade.
The disputed video reportedly showed scenes from Hellraiser: Revival with black bars covering the nudity. It also carried a “not for kids” label, but the upload was not age-restricted. The game includes full nudity in some sections, including its opening sequence.
J0nathan says the upload was ordinary game footage rather than material created for sexual gratification. He has asked YouTube to conduct one final serious review before he considers appeals under the Digital Services Act framework and possible legal action, while stating that he would prefer an amicable outcome.
He told IGN that he treated the rest of the game as a conventional horror experience comparable to Resident Evil. On that basis, he believed an age restriction was unnecessary and expected YouTube to apply one later if its systems identified an issue.
The case highlights the importance of checking platform controls before publishing mature game footage. Saber Interactive urged content creators to use suitable age restrictions, sexual-theme labels and any other available compliance tools when sharing Hellraiser: Revival material.
At the time of the reports, J0nathan had not received a response from YouTube or Saber Interactive. He also said that other channels had posted footage from the same sections without apparent penalties. That inconsistency leaves several possibilities, including differences in upload settings, moderation decisions or automated review systems; it is also unclear whether other videos could be removed later.
