Wardogs Season 2 arrives next week with a new way to risk your in-game cash, alongside team improvements, weather effects, fresh equipment and a wide-ranging balance pass.

Season 2 introduces wagers
Wardogs uses a cash-based economy in which actions generate in-game money. Season 2 adds a wager vendor that lets players stake money on their own performance each time they respawn.
Players create a wager slip by selecting intended actions and accepting conditions. Conditions make the potential payout larger, but breaking one causes the wager to fail. A live tracker will remain above the minimap, displaying the amount staked and current progress.
Developer Bulkhead describes the system as an experimental early-access feature. It may be expanded, changed, or removed during the season if players find ways to exploit it.

Lonestar receives support
The blue Lonestar team has struggled to attract players since Wardogs began, so Season 2 gives it several incentives. Lonestar will receive cash and XP bonuses for winning, plus teamplay action multipliers for both cash and XP.
Its uniforms will also use more muted colours, making them less conspicuous than the outfits worn by other factions. On Bakurani, faction spawn points have been relocated and routes to the control zone have been specifically designed around the updated layout.
Any team that falls at least 40 points behind the team in second place will receive a 20% vendor discount. The benefit applies to the losing side regardless of faction, rather than being limited to Lonestar.
New limits on team switching
Season 2 changes how often players can move between allegiances during a match. If one team leads by more than 10 points, players must wait 15 minutes after joining a team before switching again.
Players who change teams or enter an ongoing match will have the map hidden until they reach the control zone. The spawn vehicle will also remain unavailable until they have reached that zone for the first time. These restrictions are intended to reduce abuse of team-switching mechanics.

Rain, weapons and vehicles
A new rain weather preset is coming to Wardogs. During particularly heavy rain, thunder can occur, with the noise loud enough to conceal footsteps and gunfire. Players may need to use the cover provided by the storm carefully.
The update also adds four weapons, four vehicles, three buildables and Molotov cocktails. Players looking to recreate the feel of physical gaming hardware can explore RETROCADE’s arcade news and gaming coverage or browse the arcade machine collection.
Important balance adjustments
- Level-four armour and helmets now reduce damage by 60%, down from 65%.
- The super-heavy helmet now muffles audio, narrows the field of view and fogs while the player is sprinting.
- High-calibre ammunition has been reduced in base damage, with .50-calibre rounds moving to a 16% reduction and .308 Winchester rounds to a 25% reduction.
- The scout rifle has been improved so a headshot can instantly kill a target wearing a level-one helmet.
- Parachutes take longer to open, raising the minimum deployment height. A basic parachute now costs $500.
- Drills have shorter active periods and require more fuel, reducing the effectiveness of multi-drill-rig builds.

What the update means for players
Season 2 combines a high-risk money system with changes designed to improve faction balance and limit match manipulation. Rain creates new audio conditions, while the expanded arsenal and buildables should give squads more options during fights.
For readers interested in the hardware side of competitive and shooting games, RETROCADE also offers arcade light guns for shooter setups, arcade parts for upgrades and repairs and a practical arcade machine buying guide.

The Season 2 changes are planned for next week. As an experimental early-access feature, the wagering system and other mechanics may continue to change throughout the season.
