FrostPrime, a Slay the Spire streamer with more than 160,000 Twitch followers, says he has left GG Talent Group after refusing to stop criticising fellow agency client Dan Gheesling.

Why Dan Gheesling faced criticism

On Monday, 21 September, Gheesling took part in a U.S. Army-sponsored game show livestreamed to his all-ages Twitch audience. The promotion drew criticism from viewers and other creators, including Northernlion, Gheesling’s friend and collaborator of 14 years.

Northernlion said the issue went beyond a simple sponsorship because the stream presented military imagery in an unusually positive and prominent way. He later discussed his concerns during a broadcast, while otherwise remaining relatively quiet about the dispute.

His reluctance to engage with online creator drama is familiar to his audience, but the long-standing friendship appears to have prompted him to address Gheesling’s decision.

Gheesling responds on stream

Gheesling addressed viewers in a stream on 21 September, following Northernlion’s broadcast. He spent the first 150 minutes answering questions before moving on to a The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past speedrun.

Gheesling said that several creators, friends, long-term subscribers and moderators had cut ties with him after his first apology. He continued to describe himself as apolitical and declined to discuss whether the Army-sponsored streams indicated support for a particular administration.

When viewers challenged his claim that he had not understood the sponsorship to be political, Gheesling explained that members of his family had served in, or currently served in, the military. He said his view was that the U.S. Army included people with many different beliefs and therefore represented everyone.

The wider dispute has become another example of how sponsorship decisions can affect online communities, creator relationships and the business arrangements behind streaming. FrostPrime says agency ordered him to stop

FrostPrime had criticised Gheesling’s Army-sponsored streams in both Gheesling’s Twitch chat and Discord server. In a YouTube video published on 22 September, he said GG Talent Group CEO Eric Harper contacted him and instructed him to stop discussing Gheesling.

FrostPrime said he refused because Gheesling had been associated with his channel for more than five years, meaning viewers would naturally ask whether he supported the sponsorship. He stated that he did not support Gheesling’s actions and described the sponsorship in extremely strong terms, linking his opposition to his anti-war, pro-Palestinian and anti-U.S. military views.

According to FrostPrime, the exchange with Harper effectively presented him with an ultimatum. He initially described the outcome by saying he had been “dropped” from the agency because he was speaking publicly about his beliefs.

Clarification about leaving GG Talent Group

On 23 September, FrostPrime clarified his account in a post on X. He said that he had asked to leave the agency after an aggressive exchange with its CEO, but felt he had been backed into a corner.

FrostPrime said the situation felt like an attempt to silence him: he believed his options were to stop speaking, leave, or continue the conversation and risk being removed. He chose to leave and acknowledged that describing the situation as being “dropped” had been imprecise.

In a separate post, he said he was uncomfortable being treated as though he was wrong for standing by his morals. He added that, when he requested to leave, he was told the separation was mutual. FrostPrime interpreted that to mean he would have been asked to leave if he had not acted first.

“I did ask to leave the agency, after a very aggressive back and forth with the CEO of my agency. I was backed into a corner and the inevitable outcome was me gone.”

GG Talent Group said it had no issue with FrostPrime expressing political views. A spokesperson disputed the suggestion that the agency forced him out, arguing that he had left of his own accord and had provided no evidence for his claim that he was backed into a corner.

When asked to provide the correspondence between FrostPrime and the agency, the spokesperson said that no further comment or documentation was needed now that FrostPrime had stated he left himself. The disagreement over how the separation should be described remains unresolved in the statements provided.
