EverBoard wants AI to reinvent family game night

EverBoard is a portable digital game table that can turn a short idea into a playable tabletop experience. Give its 21.5-inch screen a prompt such as “sushi juggling cats” and the EverVibe Game Creator can build an original game featuring characters, rules, scoring and artwork.

The concept combines elements of board games and mobile games. In the sushi example, players keep salmon nigiri, maki and tamago pieces in the air while a juggling cat competes against a rival. The system can also suggest additions such as different values for each sushi type, combo streaks and turn-based play for up to four people.

EverBoard was announced as a $499.99 digital game table planned for an exclusive Best Buy launch during the 2026 holiday season. Its pitch is broader than simply bringing familiar titles such as Monopoly and Scrabble to a touchscreen: the company wants families to create their own games as well.

The EverBoard uses a 21.5-inch, 1080p touchscreen with 10-point touch support. Up to six people can play from different sides of the table, with controls arranged for each seating position.

A fold-out stand lets the display lie flat, stand vertically in portrait orientation or sit in a conventional widescreen position. The unit includes a built-in battery and carrying case, making it portable despite its relatively large screen.

Its main point of difference is EverVibe Game Creator, which supports both spoken and typed prompts. Players can also select themes, rules, controls and visual styles from menus before answering setup questions about player numbers, seating, computer-controlled opponents and input methods such as tapping, dragging or directional-pad controls.

How EverVibe creates and revises games

Simple prompts can produce quick variations on familiar game types, while more detailed instructions can define turn structures, objectives, scoring systems and win conditions. EverBoard says creators can customise the board, characters, artwork, sound and music.

After a game is generated, players can request changes using ordinary language. Instructions such as “make it faster”, “add power-ups” or “change the board to outer space” create a new version. Previous versions are saved, allowing players to return to an earlier design if a revision misses the mark.

One example, Bluff & Bluster, began as a request for a bluffing card game in which players lie about cards held in secret. EverVibe produced a two-to-four-player game for people seated on opposite sides of the display, including hidden hands and customisable card backs.

Four privacy films help support hidden information on the shared screen. Players slide the films over designated areas so cards and tiles remain visible to the person directly in front of them but hidden from the player opposite. In Bluff & Bluster, cards stay face down until they are dragged out of a private zone.

Child safety, publishing and privacy

EverBoard plans to let families publish completed games to an EverBoard community library. Creations remain private unless an adult approves publication, after which the company’s moderation team reviews them before they become available to other families.

EverVibe relies on generative AI models from what EverBoard describes as established commercial providers. Prompts are sent through EverBoard’s cloud service, so customers do not need separate third-party accounts.

An adult must configure the device and can choose whether EverVibe is enabled and who may use it. EverBoard says prompts that violate its content rules will be declined politely. The company intends to publish its full privacy notice and adult-managed consent process before release.

Private games remain in the device’s library, although requests to create or revise them are sent to EverBoard’s AI providers. EverBoard says it will not train AI models with players’ prompts or creations, and that its provider contracts will prohibit the same practice. Only games an adult chooses to publish will be stored for access by other users.

EverPass adds an ongoing cost

The $499.99 hardware purchase includes one month of EverPass. The subscription provides access to the full game library and allows five Game Creator creations per month.

  • EverPass costs $29 for three months or $99 for one year.
  • EverPass Premium costs an additional $50 per year.
  • Premium increases the creation allowance to 25 quick games per month, five enhanced games or a combination of both.

EverBoard says these allowances may change while EverVibe continues to be tested and developed. Without an active subscription, owners can still use a free starter collection of 10 games. Resubscribing restores the wider catalogue, which is expected to contain more than 50 games at launch, followed by monthly additions.

Confirmed Hasbro titles include Monopoly, Connect 4, Chutes and Ladders and Scrabble. The planned catalogue will also include puzzles, drawing activities, arcade-style games and other original experiences. Although Hasbro also owns games such as Clue, Risk, Battleship, Candy Land and The Game of Life, it is not clear which additional titles will appear.

A familiar idea with a creative twist

Digital game tables have previously attempted to replace a shelf of board games with one large touchscreen. Arcade1Up’s Infinity Game Table, for example, supported six players and offered digital board games, including Hasbro titles before that licensing agreement expired. EverBoard follows a similar format but adds battery-powered portability and AI-assisted game creation.

Another recent approach used bespoke physical components alongside a 24-inch display, showing that the meeting point between physical and digital tabletop play can take several forms. Readers exploring the wider arcade and gaming news landscape will find plenty of related hardware developments.

Beyond its privacy films, EverBoard currently appears to offer few accessories. Even without EverVibe, its combination of licensed board games, original experiences, a battery and a portable design makes it a natural progression of the digital game-table concept. Its strongest differentiator is the ability to build new games rather than relying solely on a fixed catalogue.

That promise also raises questions about generative AI and creative work. AI-generated rules, characters, artwork, music and sound overlap with the work traditionally done by designers, artists, writers and composers. There are also ongoing concerns about how training data is sourced, whether creative workers could be displaced and whether game libraries might be filled with low-quality material. EverBoard has not named the commercial AI providers powering EverVibe.

Will families keep playing the games they create?

EverBoard’s success may depend less on generating a game than on generating one worth playing repeatedly. A prompt like “sushi juggling cats” is easy to imagine as a fun starting point, but producing balanced rules and satisfying play from a few words is a more demanding challenge.

For shoppers comparing a digital table with a conventional arcade machine, virtual pinball machine or a home arcade buying guide, EverBoard occupies a different space. It is designed around shared tabletop play, portability and user-generated content rather than a traditional arcade cabinet.

Whether the system earns a place in Australian family rooms will ultimately depend on its game quality, subscription value, moderation and the flexibility of its AI tools. The hardware offers an intriguing foundation, but the lasting appeal will come from what families can create and enjoy together.
