Resident Evil: when can you watch it at home?

Zach Cregger, the director of Barbarian and Weapons, brings horror and comedy together in a new Resident Evil film. The story follows a medical courier, played by Austin Abrams, who must deliver an important package to Raccoon City while confronting rapidly mutating monsters.

The cinema remains the best place to experience the film’s jump scares and shared laughs, but viewers planning a home screening—or a session between games on a full arcade machine—will want to know when each release format is expected.
When will Resident Evil arrive for digital rental or purchase?

No digital date has been confirmed. Sony’s recent horror releases provide a useful guide: 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple moved to video-on-demand on 17 February after opening in cinemas on 16 January, while I Know What You Did Last Summer reached digital platforms on 26 August 2025 after its 18 July 2025 theatrical debut.
Using those release patterns, Resident Evil is expected to reach video-on-demand services in October. That remains a projection rather than an announced date.
When will Resident Evil be released on Blu-ray and DVD?
Sony commonly leaves around six to eight weeks between a digital launch and the physical release. 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple arrived on physical formats on 21 April, while I Know What You Did Last Summer was released on 4K UHD, DVD and Blu-ray on 7 October 2025.
On that basis, a feature-packed physical edition of Resident Evil is expected before the end of 2026. Collectors considering a dedicated setup can also browse RETROCADE’s arcade machine buying guide or explore compact bartop arcades for smaller rooms.
When will Resident Evil stream on Netflix or Disney Plus?

Sony has an arrangement with Netflix that gives the service exclusive access to its theatrical films for 18 months. After that period, the titles move to Disney Plus.
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple began streaming on Netflix on 31 March, while I Know What You Did Last Summer arrived there on 16 October 2025—three months after its cinema release. Applying that timetable to Resident Evil, the film will likely start streaming on Netflix in December, with a move to Disney Plus projected for summer 2028.

What can horror fans watch meanwhile?
For another dose of horror, My Bloody Valentine is available to stream free on Pluto TV. Na Hong-jin’s The Wailing offers a different kind of supernatural nightmare, following a bumbling police officer, and is available on Philo.
