The Blood of Dawnwalker: Sanzhani Quest Locations and Rewards

Spoiler warning: this guide covers the Sanzhani quests, their locations and the rewards for completing them in The Blood of Dawnwalker.

Helping the Sanzhani requires more than finding their hidden hideout. You must first meet the Tsarina, then complete four additional quests for Sanzhani in trouble. These activities are not shown on the map until you approach their starting areas, so this guide lists where to look and what to do.

How to unlock the Sanzhani quests

The chain begins with “Good Home” in the Svartrou Outskirts, north of Svartrau City. You can start it after the prologue, although its quest marker does not appear until you get close.

Find the fairy mushroom ring, follow the trail of rings and investigate the burrow. This is the Yawning Burrow. The outcome of “Good Home” does not matter: finishing it unlocks the remaining Sanzhani quests.

After “Good Home”, the Sanzhani Tsarina gives you “Letters to Lunka”, which includes the “Help the Sanzhani” objective. Speaking with the Tsarina allows you to send the first letter immediately. Each later Sanzhani quest completed gives you another opportunity to send a letter.

Every Sanzhani quest location

There are four Sanzhani quests beyond “Good Home” and “Letters to Lunka”. Their starting points only become apparent when you approach them.

1. “Good Home” — Yawning Burrow: Investigate the burrow in the Svartrou Outskirts. Completing this quest opens the rest of the chain, and the wider “Letters to Lunka” quest begins in the same location.
2. “Pearly and Precious” — Briar Sloughs: Travel to the Small Bridge shrine south of the military camp. Head just south-west of the bridge and activate focus mode to reveal a blood trail. Follow it to the Sanzhani, defeat the bandits and agree to deliver shiny teeth.
3. “Burrow Sorrows” — Rockfalls: Enter the forest north-west of Shrike’s Crag in the northern Rockfalls region. Look north of the destroyed shrine for the Sanzhani. Agree to defeat the kobolds inside the burrow and return the charm.
4. “Tiny Dancer” — Svartrau City: Search the shop directly south of the Altenmarkt, opposite a distinctive house. At night, sneak inside. During the day, you can rob and defeat the owner. Free the Sanzhani from the cage on the second floor.
5. “Come Hither” — north of Vedera Marsh Outpost: Cross the bridge north of the outpost and continue north until you find a crying Sanzhani. Defeat the Murohn to finish the quest.

Rewards for helping the Sanzhani

Every completed Sanzhani quest permits one letter to Lunka, for a total of five letters when the initial help for the Tsarina and the four additional quests are included. The quests also restore some time segments and provide other rewards.

Completing “Pearly and Precious” unlocks the Sanzhani Merchant. The merchant buys shiny teeth, which are sometimes dropped by humans, for 150 denarii each.

Do not buy the silk threads from this merchant. You need them for “A Bulwark Against Darkness”, but “Come Hither” provides the silk threads for free.

The most important reward comes after completing every Sanzhani quest. Return to the Tsarina in the Yawning Burrow and she will grant one extra day to save Coen’s family.

Quick tips for finding the quest starts

• Do not rely on map markers; most locations reveal themselves only when you get close.
• Complete “Good Home” first, because the other Sanzhani quests remain locked before it is finished.
• Use focus mode around the Small Bridge shrine to detect the blood trail for “Pearly and Precious”.
• Keep the silk threads from “Come Hither” for “A Bulwark Against Darkness”.
