Xbox Game Pass’ second September 2026 update brings a sizeable group of releases across Cloud, console, handheld and PC. The most unexpected discovery is Kernel Hearts, a co-op action-RPG roguelite that combines fast hack-and-slash combat, anime-inspired transformations and a climb through the Tower of Babel.
The major additions
Minecraft Dungeons II arrives on September 29. The sequel follows the popular arcade-style blend of Diablo-inspired combat and Minecraft design, adding gear progression and a more open structure. It will be available through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass across Cloud, console, handheld and PC.
Dune: Awakening follows on September 22. The survival-crafting game takes players from humble beginnings towards power in its harsh desert setting. Version 1.5.1 is currently being tested on PC, ahead of the game’s console launch.

Why Kernel Hearts stands out
Among the day-one additions, Kernel Hearts is the least familiar name. Its premise centres on a party tasked with ascending the Tower of Babel, defeating angelic enemies, dethroning God and attempting to save a world submerged in ash.
The game mixes co-operative action-RPG combat with roguelite progression. Players can form bonds with NPCs, use transformations reminiscent of Sailor Moon and customise their characters for demanding battles. A free Steam demo has received reasonably positive reviews, with one player approvingly describing it as a home-made roguelite take on Nier: Automata.

Games leaving Game Pass
