Xbox Game Pass has a substantial second wave of September additions, including Ninja Gaiden 4, Dune: Awakening, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Minecraft Dungeons 2 and Gears of War: E-Day.
The timing is significant. Microsoft is changing several subscription benefits, including the introduction of monthly cloud-gaming limits. An unconfirmed report has also claimed that Xbox could stop adding new releases to Game Pass on their launch day between February and April 2027, alongside possible changes to cloud-gaming access. Xbox Game Pass September 2026 additions
Microsoft’s second September wave includes the following games and dates:
- RuneScape: Dragonwilds — 15 September
- Marvel Cosmic Invasion — 16 September
- Planet of Lana 2 — 16 September
- Routine — 16 September
- Ultimate Sheep Raccoon — 16 September
- Kernel Hearts — 17 September
- Ninja Gaiden 4 — 17 September
- Dune: Awakening — 22 September
- Well Dweller — 22 September
- Mad King Redemption — 23 September
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 — 25 September
- Minecraft Dungeons 2 — 29 September
- Keeper — 2 October
- Gears of War: E-Day — 6 October
Several of the larger releases will be available through Game Pass Premium. That tier includes Ninja Gaiden 4, Dune: Awakening and Black Ops 6. Gears of War: E-Day and Minecraft Dungeons 2 are day-one additions for Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers.
The lineup covers several different styles of play. Routine is a first-person science-fiction horror game set on an abandoned lunar base. Ultimate Sheep Raccoon is a multiplayer bike-racing game focused on player-built courses packed with obstacles and traps. Dune: Awakening combines multiplayer and single-player open-world survival, while Ninja Gaiden 4 continues the long-running hack-and-slash series.

Games leaving Game Pass on 30 September
The Game Pass library continues to rotate. Microsoft has confirmed that these eight games will leave the service on 30 September:
- Atomfall
- Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
- Little Nightmares 2 Enhanced Edition
- Little Rocket Lab
- Sifu
- SOPA Tale of the Stolen Potato
- Sworn
- Terminull Brigade
The departures come as Microsoft reshapes what subscribers receive. Xbox has announced that cloud gaming will have monthly playtime limits from November: Ultimate members will receive 15 hours, Premium members 10 hours and Essential members five hours. Xbox says the limits reflect rising cloud-gaming costs and increased usage.
A separate report, citing a ResetEra user with a history of accurate Game Pass information, claims that Microsoft may end day-one additions sometime between February and April 2027. The same report suggests cloud gaming could become a separate paid add-on and that further Game Pass tiers may be introduced.
Microsoft has not confirmed those reported 2027 changes, so they remain rumours. If the day-one claim proves accurate, it would represent a major shift for a service built around access to Microsoft’s new games at launch.
For now, that benefit remains in place. Gears of War: E-Day is scheduled to arrive on Game Pass on day one in October, while Minecraft Dungeons II is also due as a day-one release later in September. The subscription may be becoming less generous in some areas, but this current wave still contains several significant launches.
