Pokémon’s 30th anniversary trading card game range is due to launch within days, leaving collectors weighing up pre-orders, online drops and a trip to the shops. Walmart’s new drawing system offers another option, letting customers register their interest without waiting in an online queue or visiting a store at opening time.

The retailer has been trialling scheduled product drawings since late August. Walmart posts a schedule of products, then gives customers a limited period of several hours to enter. After the entry window closes, winners are chosen at random and charged automatically for the quantity they requested.
There is still some uncertainty: notifications may take up to 72 hours, and the system is not guaranteed to satisfy every entrant. However, it avoids the retailer’s more competitive weekly online releases, where customers can spend hours waiting in a queue only to find trading card products sold out before checkout.

Which Pokémon 30th anniversary products are included?
The announced Walmart drawing includes four products, with the following listed prices and quantities:
- Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Sylveon ex and Greninja ex — $69.49, quantity two
- Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box — $139.94, quantity two
- Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Poster Collection — $119.82, quantity six
- Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Tech Sticker Collection — 239.64, quantity 12
Earlier Walmart drawings used limits of five and three, although demand for this anniversary release may result in lower limits.
When does the Walmart drawing open?
Entries open on 16 September at 2:00 pm PDT. The registration period generally remains open for about two hours.
How are winners notified?
Walmart may begin charging the payment method saved to a winning customer’s account from 8:00 am PDT the following morning. Additional winners can be selected during the 72 hours after the drawing closes.
Customers who are not selected do not receive a rejection message. A confirmation email is sent only when the entry is successful.

How can you avoid problems with your entry?
Before entering, review the details in your Walmart profile. Check that the saved payment method still works and that the delivery address is current. Some collectors may use multiple accounts, but accurate account information is the most important practical step: winning is of little use if payment fails or the order is sent to an old address.

Why enter the Walmart Pokémon drawing?
The drawing is a relatively low-risk way to try to buy the new range. You choose the products and quantities you want, and entering does not cost anything if you are not selected. Successful entrants can purchase at prices close to the manufacturer’s suggested retail price without leaving home.
Will Walmart stores stock the set on release day?
Walmart stores are expected to sell the new Pokémon range during the week beginning 14 September, but availability and timing may vary. Products may not appear on the official release day or immediately when the doors open.
Some stores place new trading card products on shelves a day or two early. Others wait until the release date and rely on a vendor visit before stocking them. Calling your local store on release day, checking restock communities on Facebook or Discord, or visiting in person may provide useful updates, although none guarantees stock.
The online drawing can be entered while you monitor local shops, giving collectors both options. If you are setting up a dedicated gaming space, RETROCADE also has compact bartop arcades and virtual pinball machines to complement a collection.
