007 First Light will not launch on Nintendo Switch 2 alongside its other console versions. IO Interactive has pushed the Switch 2 edition back again, with release now expected in March 2027.
007 First Light Switch 2 release moves to 2027
The Bond adventure is already available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC, following its release in late May. Nintendo Switch 2 players, however, are still waiting for their version.
A precise March launch date has not been announced, so the current window remains subject to change. The delay follows several revisions to the game’s schedule. It was originally planned for 27 March 2026 across all platforms before development delays moved the broader release to 27 May.
About a month before that revised launch, IO Interactive said the Switch 2 version would arrive “later this summer”. The game later appeared in a September Nintendo Direct with a 2026 release window, but that target has now been abandoned.
Why the Switch 2 version needs more time
Nintendo Switch 2 offers the convenience of a portable system and access to a broad game library, but its hardware is less powerful than the current PlayStation and Xbox consoles. That can mean additional optimisation work for demanding releases.
The Switch 2 version of 007 First Light has been shown at Gamescom and is scheduled to be playable at the Tokyo Game Show. IO Interactive says it is collecting player feedback and using it to improve performance before launch.
