Blizzard has announced World of Warcraft: Forever, a new Classic+ experience designed to revisit the earliest era of World of Warcraft while adding fresh adventures within its original framework.
The reveal came during the closing moments of BlizzCon’s opening ceremony. Developed by the Classic team, the project remains firmly rooted in the game’s first year and keeps the level cap at 60.
A different path through Azeroth
The cinematic follows the dwarf hunter seen in the original World of Warcraft trailer. This time, he takes another route down the mountain and reaches Dalaran, whose sealed entrance opens to expose unsettling secrets below the city.
The trailer also visits Nordrassil, the World Tree that players could not access in Vanilla WoW, along with a new sky kingdom inhabited by a previously unseen type of elf. That race, the Skyborne Elves, will be playable in World of Warcraft: Forever.
New content across levels 1–60
Rather than progressing into later eras, the game will continue creating stories inside its first-year setting. New adventures will cover the entire level range from 1 to 60, with some content available at launch and more planned for later additions.
At launch, the announced content includes:
- Three completely new zones
- Several redesigned older zones that expand previously empty parts of the map
- More than 1,000 new quests
- A new battleground
- Nine new dungeons
- Two new raids
- The Skyborne Elves as a playable race
- New reputation tracks and collectible pets
- Updated visuals throughout the world
Blizzard also says there is considerably more to come, while retaining the level-60 structure and the principles associated with the original game.
Beta and release timing
World of Warcraft: Forever will be playable on the BlizzCon show floor, with a beta scheduled to begin on Thursday. The full release is set for November 4, 2026.
