September’s PlayStation Plus Game Catalog is a quieter follow-up to August’s substantial update, which was led by Helldivers 2. Even so, subscribers have several worthwhile games to explore, including the 2025 retro-styled action platformer Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound.
On September 9, PlayStation officially announced the next additions for PS Plus Extra and Premium. The games arrive across several dates rather than all at once, so the schedule below is useful for planning what to play.

September’s standout picks
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is the clearest retro-minded highlight in the update. It may not reach the same heights as Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, another visually striking return for a classic 2D action-platforming series, but its fast, polished arcade-style design makes it an easy recommendation for PS Plus members. The adventure is compact enough to finish over a few evenings, although its momentum weakens somewhat towards the conclusion.
Players after something more colourful and exploratory should consider Dungeons of Hinterberg. Its 3D presentation combines the social and visual-novel influence of Persona with dungeon exploration reminiscent of the PlayStation 2 era. Ball x Pit, meanwhile, offers the kind of immediate, crowd-pleasing action that needs little introduction.

A curious return to Mega Man’s RPG experiment
Mega Man X Command Mission is another notable addition. Capcom’s mid-2000s attempt to transform its Mega Man successor into a turn-based RPG was ambitious, but its execution was uneven. Originally released for PlayStation 2 and GameCube, the game is worth revisiting to see whether its unusual genre shift holds up better today than it did at launch.
