Nintendo is preparing a major US promotion offering up to 30% off selected games, merchandise and accessories. The company says tariff-related refunds helped fund the event, despite separately challenging efforts to return related money to customers.
Sale runs from 13 to 26 September
Nintendo’s “Customer Appreciation Sale” begins on 13 September and finishes on 26 September. Nintendo describes it as one of its largest promotions, with discounts planned across the eShop, Nintendo Stores and selected participating retailers.
The promotion is expected to cover digital and physical games, bundles, downloadable content, accessories, amiibo and Nintendo-branded clothing. Nintendo has not yet published the complete list of discounted products.
Tariff refunds are part of the funding
Nintendo says it absorbed most tariff-related costs, but refunds connected with those charges helped make the sale possible. The company presented the promotion as a thank-you to players for their ongoing support.
The announcement follows legal action Nintendo began earlier in the year against the United States Treasury Department, the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection. The company is seeking the return of tariff money it paid after the Supreme Court ruled that President Trump’s tariffs were illegal.
A discount programme with added context
Nintendo has also faced customers in court over attempts to compel the company to pass on some of the related refunds. That background gives the sale additional significance, particularly for people who paid more for Switch 2 consoles and controllers last year.
The full product list and individual discount levels will determine how valuable the promotion proves to be. For Australian arcade fans following international games-industry news, the RETROCADE Arcade Blog covers developments across the wider gaming and arcade landscape.
Players planning a dedicated games room can also compare options in the Arcade Machine Buying Guide or browse available arcade machines while waiting for Nintendo to reveal the sale’s complete details.
Nintendo closed its announcement by thanking its community and encouraging players to find their next adventure during the promotion.
