Grand Theft Auto 6 fans have reportedly traced one of the game’s apparent locations to a real Florida resort, then disrupted the business with prank reviews and alleged attempts to demand payment.
A game location linked to Cypress Cove
Rockstar has not officially confirmed the nudist camp shown in GTA 6. However, footage circulated after late-August 2026 leaks appeared to show a location where non-player characters walk around nude. Fans believe the setting draws inspiration from recent arcade and gaming news reports about Cypress Cove Resort in Florida.
Cypress Cove describes itself as a family-friendly nudist retreat. The business has operated since 1964, beginning as a modest lakeside property before expanding as tourism grew following the construction of Disney World. Over the years, it added more pools, a villa-style hotel and a restaurant beside the lake.
The resort’s existing reputation appears to be strong. The source material records more than 1,000 reviews, with ratings of 4.6 stars on Google and 4.7 stars on TripAdvisor.
Prank reviews create a real-world problem
After the leaked footage spread, pranksters began posting reviews that referenced GTA 6 characters and scenes. Some of the comments were written to resemble complaints about genuine incidents at the resort, even though they were describing events seen in the game footage.
One review joked about having a pleasant visit until a man produced binoculars, echoing the leaked gameplay footage in which an observer used binoculars to inspect the nude NPCs. Another vaguely referred to an incident that supposedly occurred in August.
The resort’s owner described the posts as fabricated and extortive in replies. The response said that references to Jason Duval, Lucia, binoculars, a swimming pool and firearms were connected to Grand Theft Auto VI, rather than real guest experiences.
The owner said the reviews appeared to be part of a coordinated campaign and claimed that someone had requested money in exchange for changing or removing them. The business stated that it would not pay or negotiate, had documented the posts and payment request, and was reporting the activity through the appropriate channels.
The response also clarified that Cypress Cove is in Florida, not the fictional state of Leonida, and asked genuine guests and prospective visitors not to confuse the prank posts with authentic reviews.
The resort’s overall rating remains positive
Despite the disruption, the resort’s overall Google rating remains very positive. Genuine reviewers describe friendly guests, strong customer service and a welcoming environment for families.
One highly rated review said visitors could enjoy the lake, pool, restaurant, social gatherings and dances in a friendly setting. It also stated that guests should not expect creepy behaviour, unwanted following or inappropriate displays of affection.
