How to watch Nintendo’s Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct

When does the Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct start?
The presentation streams on Tuesday, September 8, at 7 a.m. PDT and 10 a.m. EDT. Nintendo will show it on its YouTube channel and Twitch channel.
For viewers in Australia, the east coast broadcast time is 12 a.m. AEST on Wednesday, September 9. The full international schedule is:
- 7 a.m. PDT on Tuesday, September 8 — west coast of North America
- 10 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, September 8 — east coast of North America
- 11 a.m. BRT on Tuesday, September 8 — Brazil
- 3 p.m. BST on Tuesday, September 8 — the United Kingdom
- 4 p.m. CEST on Tuesday, September 8 — western Europe
- 11 p.m. JST on Tuesday, September 8 — Japan
- 12 a.m. AEST on Wednesday, September 9 — Australia’s east coast
Nintendo says the showcase will provide “a variety of The Legend of Zelda related information”. Another Nintendo Direct is scheduled for the following day.
What could Nintendo reveal?
The most anticipated possibility is a first look at The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for Nintendo Switch 2. That game is slated for release in 2026.
The presentation may also show more of the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie, including confirmation of its reported cast. Sony Pictures is scheduled to release the film in cinemas on April 30, 2027.
Other expected announcements include a Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2, matching Joy-Con 2 controllers and a Switch 2 Pro Controller. Nintendo could also preview merchandise, including action figures planned to accompany next year’s film.
Long-running reports have also suggested HD remasters of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Beyond those potential updates, further Zelda games are expected in 2027 and later.
