What is included in the Fortnite v42.10 update?

The Battle Royale island now has several weapons available as loot hacks. These include the Caduceus Staff from Overwatch, Scorpion’s Combat Kit from Mortal Kombat, the Wrecker Revolver, the Deadeye Assault Rifle and the Holo Twister Assault Rifle.

Because they are loot hacks, these weapons can be unlocked with Sprite Dust. Their arrival is expected to influence how players approach matches and build their loadouts.

Four new Sprites

The update also introduces four Sprites: Onigiri, X-Ray, Mega Man and Overshield. These additions bring new options to the island and may prove just as significant to match strategy as the new weapons.

Three match overrides

Players can activate three new match overrides during games:

  • Big Head: Every player’s head becomes much larger, giving the match a deliberately retro-styled visual twist.
  • Prop Hunt: Crouching and remaining still turns a player into a prop.
  • Action Hero: Players can enter hangtime while aiming down sights in mid-air.

LEGO Fortnite Odyssey gets a Batman event

The update extends beyond Battle Royale. Fortnite OG now has a new Battle Pass based on Chapter 1 Season X, while LEGO Fortnite Odyssey receives a large Batman-themed event.

New journal missions send players after stolen parts of Gotham City hidden around the LEGO Fortnite Odyssey island. The Bat Signal points towards Gotham City locations, where players must defeat henchmen while helping Batman recover what was taken.

Players can use Batman equipment during the event, including the Batmobile, which should make travelling around the island easier. The event runs until 15 October, after which LEGO Batman can be recruited as a villager.

The current LEGO Fortnite Pass has been extended until 31 October, so the next pass will not be Batman-themed. The Batman Caped Crusader pack is scheduled to return on 17 September, offering another way to add matching cosmetics to the event.
