Sony and Sucker Punch have revealed more details about Ghost of Yotei: Echoes of Sekigahara, an expansion arriving alongside a new roguelike mode. The update will also bring back Jin Sakai, the protagonist of Ghost of Tsushima, as a playable character.
Most Wanted adds a new roguelike challenge
Called Most Wanted, the new mode lets players choose from different characters in Ghost of Yotei before setting out to hunt targets and gather upgrades. Each run uses a randomised structure, creating a different challenge from one attempt to the next.
The mode was first announced in August and is included with the upcoming expansion. Jin’s return gives fans of the previous game another way to revisit the series’ original hero.
Echoes of Sekigahara expands Atsu’s story
The wider Echoes of Sekigahara expansion launches on 1 October and adds a new area to the open-world adventure, complete with fresh story missions.
The narrative moves between the present and past sections of the game’s timeline. In the present, players follow Atsu into an unseen valley where the dangerous Vipers gang is hiding. Flashbacks explore Atsu’s experiences during the Battle of Sekigahara, including an important event from her life before she returned home to pursue vengeance.
Sucker Punch has also promised additional weapons, armour, cosmetic items and other content as part of the expansion.
Pricing and release details
Existing owners of Ghost of Yotei will be able to purchase the DLC for $15. That package includes Most Wanted and the new location. A $70 complete edition will also be released with the base game, all DLC and the available updates.
No new content has been announced for the game’s multiplayer RPG mode. However, playing as Jin in Most Wanted gives the October update a notable connection to Ghost of Tsushima.
