PlayStation has revealed two limited-edition Grand Theft Auto 6 DualSense wireless controllers: one finished in black and the other in white. The designs were shown during the latest State of Play presentation.

According to Sony, both controllers will be sold globally in limited quantities and for a limited time. Pre-orders open on September 10, with each controller priced at $85. The official launch date is November 19, matching the release date for GTA 6.

Australian buyers will need to check the PlayStation Direct store and participating retailers for local ordering details. The two colour options are shown below.

Distinctive GTA 6 styling

The controllers use engraved palm-tree details on their grips, while the large GTA 6 “VI” emblem sits across each touchpad. The rear carries the Grand Theft Auto franchise logo.

Pink accents add colour to the D-pad and face buttons on both the black and white versions. Sony also describes each controller as having a “shimmering, color-shifting finish”, an effect visible in the State of Play reveal teaser.

The oversized touchpad logo may divide opinion, but the pink detailing and palm-tree engraving give these DualSense models a clear identity. Collectors considering dedicated gaming hardware can also browse RETROCADE’s arcade machines and compact bartop arcades.

A physical controller, but no physical game

The announcement has also created an unusual contrast. Fans have pointed out that GTA 6 is receiving themed physical controllers while the game itself will not have a physical disc release.

That means players may not be able to buy and keep a boxed copy of the game, while Sony and Take-Two are offering a controller for $85—$5 more than the game’s $80 digital price. The controllers therefore provide a collectable piece of GTA hardware, even as the game is distributed digitally.
