More than ten years after the original game, Until Dawn 2 is set to launch on 28 January 2027. Pre-orders are scheduled to open on 10 September 2026.
The sequel centres on Dead True, a ghost-hunting YouTube show whose young content creators become caught in a new supernatural nightmare. Their journey begins at Blackwood Sanitorium in the snowy mountains before moving to HorrorCon, where the group discovers details of a horrifying supernatural incident.
That discovery sends the characters to an island in the South Pacific, where the series’ familiar blend of danger, fear and grisly consequences takes over. The story appears set to be violent, with the possibility that both people—and perhaps even a chicken—may not survive.

Choices decide who survives
As in the first game, players will guide several characters through dangerous situations by making decisions and reacting under pressure. Those choices will influence how the story unfolds, including which characters remain alive at the conclusion.
The original Until Dawn allowed players to reach outcomes in which everyone survived, everyone died or various combinations fell between those extremes. Its strict autosave system prevented a conventional “Game Over”, instead requiring players to continue with the consequences of their actions—or their failures to act. Until Dawn 2 is expected to follow a similar approach.
Dr Hill returns
Peter Stormare appears to be returning as psychiatrist Dr Hill, one of the original game’s most distinctive characters. In the first Until Dawn, Dr Hill appeared between chapters in apparent therapy sessions, questioning the player about their decisions.
His exact function in the sequel has not been revealed, although he may again provide a framework for examining the player’s choices. Pre-order editions will also include additional cosmetic content connected to Dr Hill.
A horror release worth watching
Until Dawn 2 combines branching storytelling, a rotating cast and a supernatural setting that moves from an isolated mountain sanatorium to a convention and then a remote island. That structure should give horror fans plenty of opportunities to replay the story and explore different outcomes.
