The Blood of Dawnwalker gives players unusual control over its pace. The central objective is to rescue your family from Brencis, the Knyaz of Vale Sangora, who is holding them captive. After the prologue, you have up to 30 in-game days to reach Greifberg Castle, the region’s heavily fortified stronghold, and defeat him.

That structure does not prevent an immediate assault. Rebel Wolves has confirmed that players can head directly to the castle after the prologue and attempt the rescue without first following the intended route. It is possible, but the game makes sure you understand why most players should wait.

Greifberg Castle is an early-game nightmare

The direct route south is difficult long before the castle gates appear. Enemies become more dangerous as you travel, turning even ordinary wolves into serious threats. The journey can also bring you face-to-face with a huge green swamp worm, making escape a more sensible option than standing and fighting.

The route eventually leads to Svartrau, the only major city in Vale Sangora. From there, you can make your way through the streets towards Greifberg Castle. A warning then appears, telling you that you are approaching a point of no return — even if only a couple of hours have passed.

Entering the castle does not put you straight in front of Brencis. Instead, an earlier boss fight begins immediately. This encounter functions as a pre-boss battle, and low-level equipment makes it exceptionally punishing, even on the easiest difficulty setting.

To survive, you need a strong understanding of The Blood of Dawnwalker’s combat system. The boss has multiple health-bar segments, and reaching the castle underprepared leaves little room for mistakes. In testing this route, only one segment was removed before the fight ended in defeat.

There is an even faster route to the final battle

Running across the map is not the only way to challenge the game’s toughest encounters early. A second method begins during the prologue, shortly after escaping the mines.

If you defeat Brencis during that section, the game sends you directly to its conclusion. This skips the journey through Vale Sangora, avoids Greifberg Castle and removes the intervening pre-boss fight from the route.

That shortcut is no kinder to an unprepared character. The final confrontation starts immediately after the prologue battle, so there is no opportunity to heal between encounters. In practice, the sequence becomes one extended boss fight, with the final boss acting as its second stage.

Warning: Both early routes are brutally difficult. For most players, exploring the world, improving your equipment and following the normal progression will be the more practical choice.

Should you try the shortcut?

Players who manage to complete the game through either early challenge deserve considerable credit. The prologue route is also notable because it can unlock the game’s secret ending immediately after the prologue.

For everyone else, the intended campaign offers time to prepare before returning to Brencis. If you enjoy demanding action RPGs, this unusual structure may be worth experimenting with after creating a separate save.
