Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is now streaming on Hulu, bringing Grace and Faith into a larger, bloodier version of the supernatural hunting game introduced in the 2019 film.
A sequel built around spectacular incompetence
Writer and television producer John Rogers once described a kind of entertainment centred on watching highly capable people do their jobs brilliantly. This sequel takes the opposite route. Its wealthy antagonists have access to money, influence and lavish resources, yet repeatedly prove astonishingly bad at practical violence.
That contrast supplies much of the film’s dark comic energy. The characters are certainly dangerous, but their privilege has not made them especially effective. Their plans unravel, their confrontations become chaotic and their attempts at murder often look more embarrassing than professional.

Grace and Faith face a new hunt
The first film followed Grace, played by Samara Weaving, after she married into a wealthy family whose fortune depended on a demonic agreement. On her wedding night, the family hunted her across their estate as a human sacrifice. Grace survived, while her former in-laws did not.
She later woke in hospital, where local police suspected her of several killings. Her estranged sister Faith, played by Kathryn Newton, then arrived after being listed as Grace’s emergency contact, adding another complication to an already grim situation.
The sequel expands that premise into an international conspiracy. Grace’s dead in-laws belonged to a network of powerful families descended from people who gained their status through Satan worship. Grace and Faith are abducted and made the targets of a new contest: four representatives from each family must hunt and kill Grace to claim the power once held by her in-laws.
Sarah Michelle Gellar plays one of those representatives, taking on a rare villainous role with echoes of her earlier work in Cruel Intentions.
More scale, without losing the joke
The sequel increases the mythology in much the same way an action franchise raises its stakes. A relatively contained family curse becomes a sprawling piece of urban fantasy involving influential bloodlines and their own elaborate rules. The premise is knowingly excessive, and the film wisely keeps moving rather than pausing to examine every detail.
Its strongest idea remains simple: people who possess almost everything are still hopeless at the one task they have been ordered to complete. The result is a splatter-comedy full of elaborate deaths, heavy bloodshed and intentionally clumsy fights.
Class conflict under the gore
It would be easy to dismiss the film as merely repeating its predecessor, but the focus has shifted. The original centred on a new bride struggling to fit into her husband’s family, while Ready or Not 2 places two vulnerable sisters against an international gathering of elites.
That gives the sequel a clearer class-war angle. Grace and Faith are pursued inside a country club rather than a private mansion, with more attackers and higher stakes. The setting makes the contrast especially pointed: the world’s privileged families are forced to get their own hands dirty.
The film also embraces the broad, messy spirit of an old drive-in movie. It throws around blood with cartoonish enthusiasm, including human explosions timed for maximum impact. The production is described as one of the highest-budget drive-in-style films on record, but its extra scale does not overwhelm the central gag.
For viewers after a straightforward night of outrageous horror-comedy, the sequel offers a generous supply of gore, bungled violence and wealthy villains receiving a particularly unpleasant comeuppance.
