The Accountant 2 Becomes a Prime Video Streaming Hit
Jon Bernthal has built a loyal following through roles including Shane in The Walking Dead, Frank Castle in the Marvel universe and his upcoming appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. His latest success, however, comes from a sequel to an action film that is not usually the first title associated with him.
The Accountant 2, the 2025 follow-up to Ben Affleck’s 2016 thriller, has climbed into the worldwide Prime Video rankings. The film currently sits at number nine among the platform’s top 10 original films, more than a year after its release.
The sequel has also performed better with critics and audiences than its predecessor. It holds a 75% critic rating and a 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Affleck returns as a highly gifted numbers expert, while Bernthal joins him in an unexpectedly entertaining buddy-cop pairing.

His schedule continued with the final season of The Bear, followed by Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. He then returned as Frank Castle for another adventure in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The Accountant 2 arriving in the top 10 is notable because the first film’s premise—a mathematically gifted man drawn into dangerous criminal work—did not make a sequel seem inevitable.
