Haikyu!! anime reveals new trailer before its final film

The Haikyu!! anime is moving towards its conclusion, with a new trailer and teaser material previewing two projects planned for 2027: the Where Monsters Go TV special and the feature film Haikyu!!: VS The Little Giant.

Where Monsters Go brings two aces together

The new trailer focuses on Where Monsters Go, a 2027 episode centred on a match between Fukurodani Academy and Mujinazaka High School. The preview highlights a powerful contest between Fukurodani’s Kotaro Bokuto and Mujinazaka’s Wakatsu Kiryu as the star players trade spikes.

The Little Giant continues the Tokyo Nationals story

The larger project is Haikyu!!: VS The Little Giant, which will continue the Tokyo Nationals Arc from the point where Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle ended. It is also scheduled for 2027 and is intended to be the second film in the two-part Haikyu!! Final series.

The films are designed to complete the anime adaptation, although “Final” labels have not always meant an immediate end for long-running anime productions. A new teaser image for VS The Little Giant was also revealed.

The anime is based on the manga, which ran in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 2012 to 2020. The complete series spans 45 collected volumes, distributed in North America by Viz Media.

Production I.G.’s anime adaptation consists of 85 TV episodes, including five original video animations, broadcast between 2014 and 2020. The television series stops partway through the Tokyo Nationals Arc, which reaches chapter 369 of the manga. The The Dumpster Battle and VS The Little Giant films are expected to adapt the remaining story.
