KPop Demon Hunters gets a feature-packed Criterion release

KPop Demon Hunters is heading to physical media through the Criterion Collection, giving fans of the Oscar-winning animated sensation a substantial home-video edition to add to their shelves. The release will include multiple formats, new bonus material and a selection of collectible extras.

What is included in the 4K set?

The flagship edition contains one 4K UHD disc and two Blu-rays. The 4K disc presents the film with Dolby Vision HDR, while the Blu-rays carry the feature and its supplementary content.

Criterion has assembled a broad set of behind-the-scenes and analytical material for the release:

  • A feature-length animatic introduced by directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans
  • A new documentary about the making of the film
  • Two video essays by Taylor Ramos and Tony Zhou of Every Frame a Painting
  • The film’s trailer
  • A lyric video for every song in the film
  • English subtitles for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers
  • English descriptive audio

Postcards, an essay and three format options

The physical package also includes several collectible postcards featuring original illustrations from members of the film’s art team. Critic Karen Han contributes a printed essay as well.

The Criterion edition is scheduled for release on 3 November 2026, with pre-orders already available. Listed prices are $39.96 for the three-disc 4K UHD and Blu-ray set, $31.96 for the two-disc Blu-ray edition and $23.96 for the two-disc DVD release. Australian buyers should check local retailers for regional pricing and availability.

A growing collection of Netflix physical releases

KPop Demon Hunters joins several other Netflix films in the Criterion Collection, including Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma, Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog, Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.
