Lifeweaver’s Life Grip is designed to rescue teammates from dangerous situations, but Season 4 gives pulled players a way to reject the save. For anyone who relies on Lifeweaver’s support toolkit, that new control deserves immediate attention.
Lifeweaver has been available since 2023, and his kit has always rewarded careful observation. A patient player can use Life Grip to pull a tank away from a fatal charge, interrupt a Jetpack Cat ultimate by rescuing its victim, or extract another support from a dive attack. After thousands of uses, one lesson stands out: the teammate objecting to a rescue is often the person who needed it most.
Season 4’s new patch changes how Life Grip behaves. The target now moves more slowly during the pull, giving them a brief opportunity to cancel the ability. When Lifeweaver is a long distance away, the pull begins even more slowly before accelerating.
The intention is to let players remain where they are if they genuinely do not want to be repositioned. In practice, that escape window may create problems. A Reinhardt fighting a tank opponent, for example, might resent being pulled away without noticing that his health has already left him one hit from elimination. The players most likely to refuse Life Grip can therefore be the ones at greatest risk.
Using the jump button for the cancellation control could also cause accidental escapes. Jumping is a natural reaction when a player is under pressure, so someone who never intended to reject the rescue may cancel it instinctively.
How to stop teammates cancelling Life Grip
Players who trust their Lifeweaver can disable the new control. Open Overwatch, enter Options, then go to the Hero menu. Find Enable Life Grip cancel controls and switch it off.
That setting leaves Life Grip in the hands of the Lifeweaver player, which is useful when the support has been watching the fight and has a clear reason for the rescue.
