Finding the pond jockey in Grounded 2 is essential if you want to improve your underwater combat options. The creature drops pond jockey meat, and analysing it unlocks the harpoon gun.
This guide explains where to find the pond jockey, how to prepare for the fight and what to do with its meat afterwards.

Where to find the pond jockey in Grounded 2
The pond jockey can be found in Skunk Pond, an area introduced with the “Into the Abyss” update. Skunk Pond is southeast of the Ice Cream Cart.
Search the eastern side of the pond, north of the fallen rubbish bin and just west of the bridge. This is the area where the pond jockey is most consistently found, although it can be difficult to spot at first.

What to bring underwater
Craft a tier 2 spear or better before entering the water. Spears and the harpoon gun are the only weapons that can be used underwater, and the harpoon gun cannot be made until you have scanned pond jockey meat.
Once you are ready, dive into the pond and look for a bright-green creature travelling in the middle of a group of smaller pond jockeys. The main pond jockey is normally passive and only becomes hostile after you attack it.

How to defeat the pond jockey
Pond jockeys are vulnerable to salt, so a salty spear is useful if you have one. A standard spear will also work, provided you bring restorative items and take care with your health.
The larger creature is not especially strong, but the smaller pond jockeys attack alongside it. Their combined damage can become dangerous quickly. Keep checking your air meter and return to the surface when you need to breathe, recover or heal.
If you have the Toe Biter buggy, you can ride it into the encounter and attack from its amphibious platform.
What to do with pond jockey meat
After defeating the pond jockey, collect the meat it leaves behind. Take it to an analyser at a ranger station. Scanning the item unlocks the harpoon gun, giving you a ranged underwater weapon for weakening enemies before closing in with melee attacks.
