Development of Calamity, one of Terraria’s most popular mods, has stopped indefinitely after allegations involving lead developer Ozzatron and claims that contributors were not paid.
The mod began development in 2016. On August 10, the Calamity development team, excluding owner and lead developer Ozzatron, announced that it was collectively ceasing all development, citing what it called an “irrecoverably tainted reputation”. GamesRadar also reported on the announcement.

Why the Calamity team stopped work
Mrrp, one of Calamity’s lead developers, shared the announcement on the mod’s official Discord server. The statement said Ozzatron had been removed after the team allegedly found “solid evidence of their actions endangering minors on Discord”.
The alleged evidence relates to a separate Discord server called “Wormhole”. Ozzatron, who owned the server, previously described it as a relaxed community where people could “vent about things” and “post lots of porn”. The claims have not been independently confirmed. Members of the Calamity community have published purported evidence in a Google Drive folder.
Unpaid work and Patreon donations
In a separate message, the group calling itself the “Calamity Mod Developers” said contributors “have not been compensated” for their work. The developers also said Ozzatron had not explained what would happen to “the several thousand” dollars held in Patreon funds.
Mrrp asked supporters to cancel their Calamity Patreon donations because development had ended and Ozzatron owned the account. An August 9, 2026 Internet Archive snapshot showed the page receiving approximately $2,600 per month. At the time of writing, that figure had fallen to roughly $480 per month.
Could Calamity continue under new ownership?
Mrrp said the team was working with tMod staff to transfer ownership of the Calamity Steam Workshop page to a new owner. That process could be complicated because Ozzatron owns Azafure LLC, the company that owns the Calamity Mod.
The developers closed their statement by thanking the community for its support throughout the past decade. They described the project as long, difficult and chaotic, but also said it helped team members learn skills they never expected to develop.
Although the team said it was painful not to see its plans completed, it added that the experience and abilities gained while working on Calamity could help its members pursue future projects.
