In Pokémon Pokopia, cooking is the key to improving several of your Pokémon abilities. Each dish strengthens a particular skill, so keeping different meals available makes it easier to expand your island and handle tougher obstacles.
Every recipe starts with one primary ingredient. Extra ingredients alter the finished dish, while some combinations require a Pokémon with a particular specialty. This guide includes the standard recipes and the additions introduced with the Bubbly Basin DLC.

How to unlock cooking
Complete the Withered Wasteland important request “Yawn up a Storm!” to open access to Rocky Ridges through the north-west green gate. Cooking becomes available soon after reaching Rocky Ridges, before “Time to Party!” begins.
Repair the PC outside the Pokémon Center, then follow the voice coming from the abandoned kitchen nearby. This leads you to Chef Dente, the Greedent who introduces the cooking system and teaches several basic recipes.
With the Bubbly Basin DLC, Mudkip can also teach you to prepare smoothies. The exact requirements for Mudkip’s request are unclear, although it appeared shortly after the Pokémon Center was rebuilt in Bubbly Basin and before the “Build the beautiful building!” request was completed. The DLC also adds one recipe variation to each food category.
Pokopia salad recipes: Leafage upgrade
Any salad improves Leafage. Holding ZR creates a larger grassy area, while the upgraded skill also lets you summon moss on rocks, duckweed on water and vines on walls. Salads use leaves as their primary ingredient and are prepared on a cutting board.
- Simple salad: No additional requirement.
- Leppa salad: Leppa Berry.
- Seaweed salad: Seaweed.
- Shredded salad: A Pokémon with the Chop specialty.
- Crushed-berry salad: Chesto Berry and a Pokémon with the Crush specialty.
- Crouton salad: Bread.
- Popping salad: Sea grape; DLC only.
Bread recipes: Cut upgrade
Bread powers up Cut, increasing the area affected while holding ZR. It also allows you to break metal fencing and other tougher objects. Use wheat as the base ingredient and bake the recipe in a bread oven.

- Leppa bread: Leppa Berry.
- Carrot bread: Carrot.
- Recycled bread: Bread and a Pokémon with the Recycle specialty.

If you are planning a dedicated gaming setup at home, the Arcade Machine Buying Guide covers the main points to consider before choosing a cabinet.
Hamburger steak recipes: Rock Smash upgrade
Hamburger steak strengthens Rock Smash, allowing you to break harder blocks such as iron ore, gold ore and Pokémetal. The primary ingredient is beans, and cooking requires a frying pan.

- Tomato hamburger steak: Tomato.
- Potato hamburger steak: Potato.
- Bitter hamburger steak: Rawst Berry and Lum Berry.
- Vibrant hamburger steak: Salad and potato.

Pokopia soup recipes: Water Gun upgrade
Soup upgrades Water Gun, letting you hold ZR to water a wider area. Chef Dente teaches soup after you complete “Time to Party!” through a later request. That request may also require further progress in the fourth area, but a pot can be used to make soup if you find one earlier.
Soup uses fresh water and must be prepared in a pot. Fresh water can come from powered vending machines, although their contents are random, or from the PC shop, which sells only five sets of 10 bottles.
- Simple soup: No additional requirement.
- Seaweed soup: Seaweed.
- Mushroom soup: Mushroom.
- Electrifying soup: A Pokémon with the Generate specialty.
- Healthy soup: Bean and leaf.
- Flavorful soup: Aspbear Berry and hamburger steak.
- Popping soup: Sea grapes; DLC only.
Bubbly Basin smoothie recipes: Surf upgrade
Smoothies are exclusive to the Expansion Pass DLC. Talk to Mudkip in Bubbly Basin when its request becomes available. It appeared shortly after rebuilding the local Pokémon Center, before the “Build the beautiful building!” request was finished, although other prerequisites may apply.
A smoothie powers up Surf, allowing underwater travel. It is faster than ordinary swimming and lets you dive or rise with L and R without holding B. Smoothies use watermelon as the primary ingredient and require a blender.
- Watermelon smoothie: No additional requirement.
- Sea grape smoothie: Sea grape.
- Leppa smoothie: Leppa Berry.
- Red-hot smoothie: Fresh carrot and a Pokémon with the Burn specialty.
- Refreshing soda smoothie: Aspear Berry and soda pop.
- Coffee parfait smoothie: Moomoo milk coffee and simple bread.

Cooking tips for Pokopia
Because each food category improves a different skill, carrying a mixture of salads, bread, hamburger steaks, soup and, where available, smoothies is more useful than relying on one recipe. Specialty Pokémon are especially important for the enhanced variations.
Players looking to build a themed gaming space can also compare arcade machines, compact bartop arcades or DIY arcade kits.
