Vampire: The Masquerade 6th Edition was White Wolf’s major Gen Con 2026 announcement, but the publisher also outlined a wider revival plan for the World of Darkness. Among the projects mentioned was the long-neglected Changeling: The Dreaming.
Three World of Darkness games are in development
During the Future of White Wolf panel, World of Darkness creative director Jess Lanzillo confirmed that new editions of Mage: The Ascension, Changeling: The Dreaming and Vampire: The Dark Ages are planned.
White Wolf has not shared many details about these editions. Lanzillo did indicate that each will build on the systems introduced with the newest edition of Vampire: The Masquerade.

What each game brings to the setting
The World of Darkness line presents different supernatural perspectives within one connected universe. Mage: The Ascension centres on reality-shaping magic and its distinctive spellcasting system. Changeling: The Dreaming follows fae souls reborn in human bodies, while Vampire: The Dark Ages examines the medieval history of the clans from Vampire: The Masquerade.
These three games have received considerably fewer editions than several other World of Darkness properties, and none has had a new edition for a long time. Their inclusion therefore makes the roadmap more unexpected than a straightforward focus on the best-supported titles.
Why these games are being prioritised
Lanzillo explained that the studio’s small size allows it to concentrate on projects that its creative team is particularly passionate about. She described the three games as personal favourites and said they are titles the team wants to make.
Players waiting for new editions of Werewolf: The Apocalypse or Hunter: The Reckoning may be disappointed that neither appears to be next. Lanzillo acknowledged both games, but noted that their 5th Editions are currently well supported. White Wolf is instead giving priority to games that have been underserved.
There is still no information about possible new editions of Wraith: The Oblivion, Mummy: The Resurrection or Demon: The Fallen.

Aiming for one core book each year
White Wolf has not announced a release date for Vampire: The Masquerade 6th Edition. Lanzillo said, however, that the team would like to publish one core book each year. If that schedule becomes reality, the return of new World of Darkness editions could develop into a regular publishing programme.
