Marvel Studios is reportedly adding another mutant to its forthcoming X-Men reboot, with Samara Weaving said to be playing Emma Frost, the telepathic character also known as the White Queen.
Deadline reports that Marvel Studios and director Jake Schreier have selected Weaving for the role. Marvel has not yet formally announced the casting.
Weaving is recognised for horror and thriller films including The Babysitter, Ready or Not and Scream. Her other work includes the drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and Carolina Caroline.
What Emma Frost brings to the X-Men
Emma Frost first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1980, debuting in The Uncanny X-Men #129. She began as a member of the Hellfire Club and an opponent of the X-Men, but later became one of the team’s important allies, leaders and central characters.
Her abilities combine powerful telepathy with the capacity to transform her body into organic diamond, giving the character both a formidable mental presence and a distinctive physical power.
Live-action audiences previously saw January Jones play Frost in X-Men: First Class. The character has also appeared in X-Men: The Animated Series, voiced by Tracey Moore, and X-Men ’97, voiced by Zehra Fazal.
Other names linked with the reboot
Although Marvel Studios has not confirmed the new film’s cast, other reported or discussed possibilities include Adam Driver as Mister Sinister, Cailee Spaeny as Rogue and Charles Melton as Beast.

Samara Weaving’s MCU connection
Weaving also has a family link to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her uncle, Hugo Weaving, played Johann Schmidt, better known as Red Skull, in Captain America: The First Avenger. He did not return as the character in Avengers: Infinity War.
The new X-Men film does not currently have a release date. Marvel’s 2028 schedule includes three films, with Black Panther 3 and Ghost Rider occupying two of those slots. The studio’s next listed films are Avengers: Doomsday, due in December, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars in December 2027.
