Bandai Namco Amusements has provided a clearer picture of when operators and players can expect Pac-Man Battle Royale Chompionship, including details about its standard, upgradeable and deluxe formats.
Standard cabinet delayed until June
The four-player standard model was initially targeted for February 2022, before moving to April and then May. Frank Cosentino of Bandai Namco Amusements said the standard version is now expected to begin shipping in mid-June, with supply-chain disruption continuing to affect production.
Lockdowns across major population centres in China have also added pressure to the manufacturing and component-supply problems facing arcade companies.
Four-player cabinet can be upgraded
The planned standard release remains the four-player cabinet shown previously. Bandai Namco also intends to offer an upgrade kit that converts an existing Pac-Man Battle Royale unit into a Chompionship machine supporting up to eight players.

Deluxe version offers eight-player action
A deluxe, or DX, version is also part of the line-up. These units had already started shipping, although their initial availability came with an important limitation.
The DX cabinet supports eight-player games in a format resembling an air-hockey table. Its main display is approximately 75 to 80 inches, and two additional marquee screens repeat the action for people watching nearby.
The DX model is a summer exclusive for Dave & Buster’s. Once that period ends, other venues will be able to acquire the cabinet. In the meantime, the standard version is scheduled to start shipping in June.
