Lane Master Xtreme leads UNIS and Sega’s IAAPA 2023 line-up

UNIS and Sega Amusements are preparing new attractions for IAAPA 2023 in Orlando, Florida. The event’s education seminars begin on 13 November, followed by the product-filled show floor on 14 November.

UNIS introduces Lane Master Xtreme

UNIS launched the original Lane Master in 2016. The alley-bowling and video-game hybrid has appeared in family entertainment centres, combining a physical ball lane with an on-screen experience. The first game received substantial software updates after launch, and it is now being followed by a full sequel.

Lane Master Xtreme changes the emphasis from measured pin bowling to rapid-fire play. Each round is split into waves, with more digital pins appearing as the game progresses. Players must clear as many pins as possible before the timer expires, while the pins reset immediately after every throw to keep the action moving.

Lane Master Xtreme focuses on speed and accuracy. Players throw balls quickly through successive waves, aiming to hit the growing number of digital pins before time runs out.

The sequel also introduces optional “Power Balls”. These physical balls are dispensed with QR codes and scanned before a game, unlocking special skills that can improve a player’s performance. One example is a multiplier that increases the impact of a ball and helps knock down more pins.

The optional Power Ball system combines a dispenser and scanner. Its smaller balls add a physical collectible element to the attraction, although it is not confirmed how the game would respond if one were rolled down the lane rather than scanned.

Sega reveals Hyper Cross and Zombies Ready, Deady, Go!

Sega Amusements is also listing two attractions for its IAAPA 2023 presence: Hyper Cross and Zombies Ready, Deady, Go! Sega’s exhibitor profile describes the latter as a thrilling, ball-rolling derby-style experience.

Hyper Cross had already been seen in testing in the United Kingdom earlier in 2023. At the time of this announcement, Sega’s website did not provide further details about either title. Based on its ball-rolling format, Zombies Ready, Deady, Go! could occupy similar territory to Lane Master Xtreme, though the two games may ultimately offer different play styles.
