Raw Thrills and Play Mechanix have announced Angry Birds Boom!, a two-player video redemption game making its industry debut at IAAPA Expo Europe 2024 in Amsterdam. The new cabinet brings the familiar slingshot concept to a competitive arcade format designed for ticket redemption.
The announcement follows an earlier teaser that showed only the outline of the cabinet. The full reveal confirms a new arcade experience rather than a direct conversion of one of the mobile games.
This is not the Angry Birds licence’s first appearance in arcades. Play Mechanix and ICE previously produced an Angry Birds videmption game in 2015, while LAI Games released the Sky Tower coin pusher in 2021, based on an original Playmore design. Other, simpler redemption machines have also used the property.
The Angry Birds Boom! cabinet
The cabinet retains much of the form seen during testing and shares a broad shape with Raw Thrills’ NERF Arcade. Its appearance may be familiar, but the game itself uses a different style of play.

Players face a 65-inch 4K display with an interactive RGB LED border, two player positions and surround sound. Each station includes a mounted, force-feedback launcher with custom shells styled after the two playable birds: Red and Chuck.

A confirmed price was not provided. Operators interested in the machine will need to contact their preferred distributor for commercial details. Full production was expected to begin towards the end of October, with shipping likely to start in November.
The first public showing was scheduled for 24–26 September 2024 at the Bandai Namco Amusement Europe booth, number 8373, during IAAPA Expo Europe in Amsterdam. The machine was also expected to appear at IAAPA 2024.
For operators comparing different cabinet formats, RETROCADE’s arcade machine buying guide covers the practical considerations involved in choosing commercial and home arcade hardware.
How the game plays
Play Mechanix has created an original arcade interpretation of Angry Birds. The core idea remains recognisable: fire birds into unstable structures, destroy the pigs and create as much chaos as possible before time expires.

The game includes nine scenes and two bosses. Rather than allowing players to select freely from every stage, each play selects three scenes and one boss. Continuing the game generates another combination, helping avoid an immediate repeat of the previous run. The boss selection can change as well.

The main format is built around ticket redemption. An Amusement mode is also available for venues that do not want to award tickets, while leaving the underlying gameplay unchanged. This follows the approach used by several previous Raw Thrills videmption releases, including Space Invaders Frenzy, Bust-A-Move Frenzy and Galaga Assault.
The competitive structure sees players collect hidden rewards, score points through destruction and try to defeat the most pigs. The higher scorer receives the majority of the tickets, giving the familiar slingshot formula a direct head-to-head element.

Operators can compare this redemption-focused format with other options in RETROCADE’s arcade machines collection, while venues planning ongoing maintenance can review the available arcade repair and service support.
Launch details from Bandai Namco
Bandai Namco Amusement Europe positioned Angry Birds Boom! as an immersive, multiplayer redemption release from Raw Thrills and Play Mechanix. The company said the game strengthens its focus on recognisable entertainment properties and family-friendly arcade attractions.
Red and Chuck take on the Bad Piggies, including King Pig and Foreman Pig, across destructible environments filled with unstable structures. Players must cause maximum damage, discover hidden rewards and finish with the highest score before the timer runs out.
The cabinet combines the Red- and Chuck-themed launchers with the large display, RGB lighting and artwork featuring the franchise’s main characters.
“We are delighted to collaborate again with Raw Thrills on the release of Angry Birds Boom! ahead of the Angry Birds franchise’s 15th anniversary in December,” said James Anderson, Commercial and Sales Director at Bandai Namco Amusement Europe.
“This timeless brand continues to resonate with families after many years and we are certain parents and children alike will enjoy unleashing mayhem with our latest game.”
