Blue Motion Games is expanding its immersive arcade range with two-player editions of Desert Chase and Cannonball Jam. The new cabinets are intended for venues that cannot accommodate the larger four-player versions, with deliveries scheduled to begin in November 2025.

The Montreal-based company first presented its two original titles as large four-player attractions for family entertainment centres. The four-player models debuted in January 2025 and have since been promoted as strong-performing social arcade attractions.

Desert Chase moves to a two-player format

Desert Chase is an original light-gun game set in a post-apocalyptic desert environment with a distinctly high-octane, dystopian feel. Players travel through two stages, described as longer than the usual two- to three-minute arcade levels.

The experience combines shooting gameplay with motion and environmental effects. The two-player model retains 3DOF motion seats, wind from integrated fans, vibration effects and surround sound. It uses a 65-inch 4K display and removes two seats compared with the original four-player cabinet.

The four-player version began shipping in January 2025 and has appeared at entertainment venues, including a Chuck’s Arcade location recently. Blue Motion Games says data from many locations indicates a return on investment in less than five months.

The two-player Desert Chase is due to arrive in November. Although Blue Motion Games will not operate its own booth at IAAPA 2025, the cabinet will be displayed at the Player One Amusement Group booth, number 840.

The motion and wind systems are sometimes casually described as 4D or 5D effects, although those labels have largely fallen out of common industry use.

Cannonball Jam offers a family-focused shooting experience

Cannonball Jam takes a different approach to light-gun play. Instead of firing simulated projectiles, players shoot physical balls at the screen. It is also the more substantial game in terms of stage count, offering six levels compared with Desert Chase’s two.

Both attractions occupy a considerable amount of floor space, while Cannonball Jam appears even larger because of the chamber that stores and launches the balls. Its compact edition keeps the core feature set of the four-player cabinet but reduces the layout to two player stations and a 65-inch screen.

For operators assessing space requirements, the move to two-player formats follows a familiar arcade strategy: retain the main gameplay and spectacle while creating a more practical footprint. Blue Motion Games teases a Hollywood collaboration

The company has also previewed its next project, although specific details remain confidential. Blue Motion Games says the upcoming arcade game will be based on a premium Hollywood intellectual property and is being developed through a strategic partnership with the rights holders.

An official announcement is expected within two months of the company’s 16 October 2025 announcement. The project is intended to combine blockbuster storytelling with Blue Motion Games’ interactive arcade format.

“We’re thrilled with the market’s response to our products,” said Salim Sabbagha, President and Co-Founder of Blue Motion Games. “The success of our four-player versions and the upcoming two-player models open the door for even more locations to feature our games. We’re confident that our upcoming Hollywood IP-based title will set a new benchmark for arcade entertainment.”

Alexander Mercon, Vice President and Co-Founder, said the company’s development team was aiming to shape the next wave of arcade innovation. Blue Motion Games President and Co-Founder Salim Sabbagha also said the two-player machines should allow more operators to introduce the games without sacrificing the main experience.

What the two-player models retain

  • Two player positions instead of four
  • Large high-definition displays
  • 3DOF motion systems
  • Colourful, attention-grabbing theming
  • Gameplay designed for a broad, all-ages audience

Blue Motion Games says the original four-player machines have exceeded expectations in revenue testing and reliability, with many locations reporting an ROI of less than five months. The smaller editions are designed to extend that opportunity to venues with tighter floor plans.

Operators and collectors following new arcade releases can find further coverage in the RETROCADE arcade blog, while venues planning installation should consider access, player circulation and ongoing arcade maintenance and repairs.
