Spoiler warning: This article discusses a cameo in episode 6 of VisionQuest.

Marvel’s habit of hiding small connections in its stories continues in Disney Plus’ VisionQuest. The latest episodes feature the unexpected return of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first villain, but eagle-eyed viewers may also have noticed another, much shorter appearance: The Watcher.
The Watcher appears in “Deadlock”
The cameo occurs in episode 6, titled “Deadlock”, during the confrontation between Vision and Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar. As the mysterious Client communicates through televisions in a shop-window display, a brief shot reveals a doorway containing The Watcher’s silhouette and glowing eyes.
The moment appears at approximately 32:41 and lasts only about a second. Showrunner Terry Matalas confirmed the detail with a playful post on X, replying: “Good eye. Or … eyes.”

Who is The Watcher?
In Marvel Comics, the Watchers are a species devoted to recording the history of the universe. Uatu is the best-known member of the group and has already appeared several times in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Uatu first appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He later served as narrator of the animated series What If…?, and also appeared in X-Men ’97 and Daredevil: Born Again.
The Watchers are bound by a rule against interfering in Earth’s affairs, which makes this brief appearance potentially significant. His presence in VisionQuest may suggest that events have consequences beyond Vision’s immediate conflict.

Could Ultron and The Watcher meet in live action?
The cameo also raises an obvious question for Marvel fans: could VisionQuest bring Ultron and The Watcher into a live-action confrontation?
In the first season of What If…?, the episode “What If…Ultron Won?” follows an alternate reality in which Ultron becomes aware of The Watcher. Their discovery leads to a battle that spreads across the multiverse.
Ultron is an important part of VisionQuest and continues to pursue his own interests, so another clash with The Watcher is possible. However, Ultron represented such a severe threat in What If…? because he had collected all the Infinity Stones. Without that enormous increase in power, a live-action version of the same battle seems unlikely.

A tiny detail with larger implications
For now, The Watcher’s appearance is best treated as a carefully placed Easter egg rather than confirmation of a future multiverse storyline. Still, the short glimpse gives attentive viewers another reason to revisit the episode and check the background of every frame.
