Control Resonant has become Remedy Entertainment’s fastest-selling game ever, passing one million copies sold in less than a month.

The Finnish studio announced the milestone on 15 October, following the action RPG’s 24 September release. The game has also earned largely positive reviews from critics, giving Remedy a strong early result for its latest supernatural thriller.

Remedy shared its thanks through social media, acknowledging players for playing, sharing the game and joining its community.
Thank you for the support ❤️ For playing, sharing, and being a part of the community. #CONTROLResonant
Control Resonant follows Dylan Faden as she investigates a distorted version of New York while working for the Federal Bureau of Control. Dylan is also searching for her missing sister, Jesse Faden, the lead character from 2019’s Control.
How Control Resonant’s launch compares
One million sales is a significant early achievement, although other September releases reached the same figure more quickly. The Blood of Dawnwalker sold one million copies in just two days.
Remedy’s previous major release, Alan Wake 2, took about two months to reach one million copies in 2023. Control Resonant has therefore reached the same milestone in less than half that time.
Alan Wake 2 took more than a year to become profitable. If the new game reaches profitability sooner, the result could support Remedy’s goal of achieving steadier growth.

What Remedy is working on next
Remedy is collaborating with Rockstar Games on remakes of the first two Max Payne titles. The developer also previously worked on a multiplayer project codenamed Kestrel, but that game was cancelled in 2024. More background on the cancellation is available in this report on Kestrel.
The original Control received additional content after launch, and Control Resonant may have room for a similar approach. The sequel leaves several story threads open for possible downloadable content and includes an Easter egg hinting at a potential Alan Wake 3.
