DC Comics has announced Absolute Justice, a new five-issue miniseries bringing together the Absolute Universe versions of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern Jo Mullein and Flash Wally West.
The announcement was made at New York Comic-Con, with the series scheduled to begin in April 2027. Martian Manhunter will assemble the team after his own Absolute series concludes. Reporters in the room noted that some of the characters have already crossed paths, including Batman and Wonder Woman, but this will be the first time the complete team appears together in the Absolute Universe.
Unlike many major comic-book events, Absolute Justice is not expected to disrupt DC’s ongoing series. Its trailer sets a grim tone, warning the heroes about Darkseid and the other “true rulers of this world” with the message: “Abandon all hope.”
Who is making Absolute Justice?
Absolute Superman writer Jason Aaron will script the miniseries, while Juan Ferreyra, known for work on Green Arrow and Spine-Tingling Spider-Man, will provide the art.
More Absolute Universe announcements
The panel also revealed several other projects. Cliff Chiang will temporarily replace Absolute Batman artist Nick Dragotta for issue #26, a Barbara Gordon-focused story due in January. DC also announced a new Absolute Black Canary one-shot for sometime next year.
Black Canary first appeared in Absolute Green Arrow, which originally began as a six-issue miniseries before being expanded to 12 issues.
Why the Absolute Universe matters
The Absolute line has performed strongly for DC. Both Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman received Best New Series nominations at the 2025 Eisner Awards, with Absolute Wonder Woman winning the category.
These books rework familiar heroes by removing the resources and status that traditionally define them. Absolute Batman, for example, has no butler, mansion or inherited wealth. The wider concept is also moving beyond comics: an animated Absolute Batman series was announced in June.
